"Bodega Bay Ping Pong News
December 4, 2023
Open session Ping Pong play is beginning in December at the Bodega Bay Grange. A planning group (George Flores, Julie-Ann Hill, Bob Podolak, Greg Kirsch, and Saeid Rahimi) met and chose Tuesdays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM for open ping pong play. Days and hours may change as popularity increases.
Teens and adults, all skill levels are welcome to play. Depending on the number of participants, games will be singles (two players) or doubles (four players.) The winning score for friendly games is 11. Paddles and balls will be available. Experienced players are encouraged to bring their own paddles.
Ping pong at the Grange is meant to be a fun, voluntary, self-supported activity. Players are required to sign a waiver of liability. A token donation of $2 is requested. Set-up and take-down is the responsibility of players.
The Grange has new restrooms, an air purifier, and an AED. But it might be cool inside on cold days, so dress appropriately, and wear non-slippery shoes.
We have a new Joola ping pong table with net, generously donated by Bob Podolak and Greg Kirsch. A second new table and net will soon be purchased, along with paddles, balls, paddle cleaner, and ball retriever, thanks to donations from Janet Moore, Angela Aloise, Saeid Rahimi, George Flores, and Waves of Compassion.
We would also like to thank all of our kind neighbors and friends who offered to donate used tables and equipment to the cause. Tomales (our local) High School is trying to build-up ping pong for recreation during breaks and maybe a ping pong club, so help in that direction would be much appreciated. Hooray for Ping Pong in Bodega Bay!"
