📅 You can submit up to three photos now through September 21 in each of our five categories:
– Scenic Landscapes
– Wildlife & Nature
– Recreation & Activities
– People in Parks
– California History

🏆 Category winners will receive a complimentary California State Parks Foundation membership with a California Explorer Vehicle Day Use Annual Pass and be featured in our 2028 calendar.

Bodie Astronomy Program, you are cleared for launch!

Join us this at 8:30 Saturday night outside of the museum during the Bodie Foundation's ghost walk night for a telescope viewing opportunity! Enjoy some of the darkest skies around.

Bring a red flashlight, a jacket and your own telescope or binoculars if you would like.

Bodie State Historic Park is open until 10pm Saturday with regular admission and parking.

Please be prepared to be back in the parking lot by 10pm

Sunset put on a show for us last night at Bodie, a fabulous rainbow stretching from Standard Hill -- near the site of Bodie's first rich gold strike -- all the way over to Silver Hill.

There is in fact a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.

Sick of summer heat? Bodie's heatwave is over and we're not forecast to even hit 70 again until August 20th.

We had a high of 64 today, and as I write this at 5:39 we've dropped to 48.

If you come up prepare for chilly mornings and evenings and afternoon showers -- in short: FALL!

It's our favorite time to visit the park!

There was a lot of interest in seeing horses in town on our last post -- well I'm happy to tell you that if you come to our annual Friends of Bodie festival this Saturday (August 8th) this mule drawn wagon will be strutting its stuff around town for your photographic enjoyment!
