Since 1903, the Boerne Fire Department began serving the residents of Boerne and Kendall County. In 2004, the Boerne Fire Department began adding its first paid members with the addition of Chief Doug Meckel. Two years later, we added a department training officer and in 2009 the department started adding shift personnel. As the need for services continued to grow, we added a department administra

tive assistant and the Fire Marshal’s Office joined the fire department. Also, this is a City of Boerne maintained social media page, which adheres to the City's Social Media Policy. WHAT A TREAT : Thanks to our incredible community, we sold 483 shirts and raised $3,716 through this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirt drive alone!

THANK YOU, BOERNE! 💗 Because of your generosity, we exceeded last year’s total, allowing us to make an even bigger impact this year. The proceeds were proudly donated to Hill Country Mission for Health, where new Executive Director Jessika Goad brings extensive nonprofit experience and a passion for serving others. The Mission’s Board is excited to work alongside her as they continue providing compassionate care to our community. The clinic is currently accepting new patients in Kendall County, and you can visit them at 122 Commercial Ave.

The final round of orders is now available! Head over to your respective pickup location to grab your merch and wear it with pride, knowing you helped make a tremendous difference.

A special thank you to Boerne Firefighters Weaver and Gonzales along with Boerne Fire Captain Copeland for the special delivery of donations this morning!

The Boerne Fire Department had the pleasure of going beyond traditional back-to-school supplies for students at Currington Elementary School!

Through this special project, headsets were purchased for students learning English as their secondary language. These tools will help provide translation services and personalized learning opportunities, empowering students to grow and learn with confidence.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to Jessica Carlos - State Farm Insurance Agent for donating some of the proceeds for this project. And to Boerne Firefighter Anaya and Firefighter Hernandez for making the special delivery.

ONE WEEK LEFT: The beauty of the Boerne Fire Department’s Citizen Fire Academy is how it brings people together.

Over the past eight weeks, participants have learned, laughed, and built lasting camaraderie while gaining a hands-on understanding of what it takes to serve our community. From tackling fire scenarios to mastering vehicle extrication, every moment has been about teamwork, growth, and connection.

As we gear up for the final session next week, here’s a fun look at what our 2025 classmates were most likely to do throughout this incredible journey!

TWO WEEKS LEFT — AND THE FIRE ACADEMY ISN’T SLOWING DOWN! Thursday nights are always a blast at the Boerne Citizen Fire Academy!

Week 7 class was led by Firefighter Jacob Ginnings, who guided participants through the mechanics and dynamics of tourniquets and rescue techniques.

Participants then took part in a simulated Rescue Task Force scenario, stepping into roles as police, fire, and victims. The exercise offered a hands-on look at the swiftness of care, assessing victims’ needs, and working closely with law enforcement—all while remaining alert to potential threats.

The night wrapped up with Captain Copeland’s talk on ropes and knots, diving into the mechanics behind them and how selections are made based on different types of rescue scenarios.

🔥 A special thank-you to Chick-fil-A Leon Springs for the generous meal donation for week 7 session!

🎉 Congratulations to Marcela Garcia and Ruth Coffee 🎉

The Boerne Fire Department took Fire Prevention Week on the road to Currington Elementary, this time presenting Fire Prevention en Español! Students learned valuable safety tips and procedures, and even got to meet Sparky the Fire Dog! 🐾🚒

This special presentation, led by our very own Firefighter Anaya, ensured every student could fully engage and learn in the language most familiar to them, a wonderful example of how our fire department goes above and beyond to keep our entire community safe and informed.

A huge thank-you to the incredible staff at Currington Elementary School for helping make this day so dynamic and memorable!
