Washington Parish Fire District 7 would like to share the following information provided by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) regarding the large brush fire that began yesterday near Highway 1074 and Wardline Road. This information is being shared to help educate the public on how quickly a fire can escalate under the current environmental conditions.

Brush fires can spread rapidly due to wind, dry vegetation, and terrain, often requiring a coordinated response from multiple agencies to bring the situation under control.

WPFD7 would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the mutual aid from the Fire Departments and agencies such as LDAF, that responded to assist with containment and suppression efforts. The cooperation and professionalism displayed by all responding personnel played a critical role in protecting lives and property.

‼️‼️Please do not burn anything. ‼️‼️
According to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry (LDAF), Washington Parish remains under a Burn Ban.

Even though rain may be in the forecast, outdoor burning is still prohibited at this time. Dry conditions across the parish have already led to several brush fires, and it only takes a small spark for a fire to spread quickly.

🚫 Please do NOT burn anything until the burn ban is officially lifted.

Our firefighters, along with neighboring departments and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry, have been working hard responding to brush fires across the parish. Your cooperation helps keep our community, homes, and first responders safe.

We will share updates with the public as soon as the burn ban is lifted. Thank you for doing your part to help protect Washington Parish Fire District 7 and our community.
