Bogalusa Police Department Reaffirms Commitment to Public Safety

BOGALUSA, LOUISIANA — The Bogalusa Police Department has recently been the subject of several social media posts questioning the integrity, professionalism, and mission of the department. Some of these posts have included allegations that the department has refused to investigate reported crimes or has taken sides in political matters currently affecting our city.

The Bogalusa Police Department believes it is important to address these concerns directly and reaffirm our commitment to the citizens we serve.

The mission of the Bogalusa Police Department remains clear: to protect the safety and security of the citizens of Bogalusa.

Our officers and employees will continue to discharge their duties professionally, impartially, and in accordance with the law. Investigations will be guided by facts, evidence, and applicable law, regardless of the individuals involved or the circumstances surrounding a particular matter. We will not allow political considerations, personal interests, public pressure, or outside agendas to influence our law enforcement responsibilities.

The department will continue to aggressively pursue those responsible for violent crime, narcotics offenses, and gun-related crimes. At the same time, we remain committed to strengthening positive relationships and maintaining open lines of communication with the citizens and communities we serve.

The Bogalusa Police Department is not a participant in political disputes, campaigns, political rhetoric or agendas. As a law enforcement agency and an entity of city government, our responsibility is to remain professional and neutral while carrying out our mission of public safety. The department will not be used as a pawn in political disputes or as a vehicle to advance political agendas.

We recognize that public scrutiny and community discussion are important components of a healthy and accountable government. The Bogalusa Police Department will continue to operate with transparency, remain receptive to legitimate concerns, and engage in productive and respectful dialogue with the citizens of Bogalusa.

Our commitment is not dependent upon politics, personalities, or public opinion. It is a commitment to the community we serve.

The Bogalusa Police Department will continue to follow the evidence, enforce the law fairly and impartially, protect the public, and work every day toward a safer Bogalusa.

The Bogalusa Police Department will be participating in a “Drive Sober or get Pulled Over” campaign starting July 2nd through July 6th 2026. During this period, the Bogalusa Police Department will be conducting a DWI checkpoint somewhere inside the city limits of Bogalusa. This campaign is a Grant sponsored by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.

LHSC reminds drivers to choose safety this July 4 holiday.

If you plan on drinking to celebrate this July 4th holiday, you have a choice: Let someone else drive, or risk losing some of your freedoms.

“Alcohol and drugs – even legal, prescription drugs – can impair your judgment, slow your reflexes, and change your depth perception,” Freeman said. “Your friend or family member may truly believe he or she is fine to drive, but it only takes one drink to impact all the faculties you need to be a safe driver.”

📚✏️ HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE! ✏️📚

The City of Bogalusa is preparing for our Back-to-School Block Party on July 18, and we need our community’s support!

We are inviting local businesses, churches, nonprofits, civic groups, and organizations to join us as we help students start the school year prepared and confident.

Set up a table, share information about your organization, distribute school supplies, provide resources, or simply come out and show our children that their community supports them.

It takes all of us working together to invest in the next generation. Every backpack, notebook, pencil, and encouraging word can make a lasting impact on a child.

If your organization would like to participate, please use this link, and a team member will contact you.
