Chief Bruton started an effort two years ago to clean up properties at the four way intersection of Hwy 271 and 37, including the old truck stop.
After a lot of work put in by the police department and code enforcement, we are excited to announce the courts have ruled in favor of the city that the abandoned Bogata truck stop had to be demolished.
Yesterday, the city approved a contractor permit to start on this process. Please be aware of the demolition that will be taking place here, as they have already started working.

Bogata Police Department’s K9 Heretic has received donation of body armor

Bogata Police Department, TX, K9 Heretic has received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Heretic’s vest was sponsored by Cheryl Hopper of Hebron, IN and embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of Arthur L Zimmerman”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,120 vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30,000 law enforcement K9s throughout the United States.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1800.00, weighs an average of 4-5 lbs., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information or to learn about volunteer opportunities, please call (508) 824-6978. Txdot is going to be trimming the low hanging trees on North Main today between downtown and 7th N.W St. There will several traffic control devices setup, so you may want to detour around until they are finished cleaning up

We would like to invite everyone to participate in the Bogata Rodeo Parade on June 28th at 5:00 PM. We welcome all horses,wagons, floats,antique cars and tractors, marching bands , school groups, 4 wheelers, side x sides or whatever else you'd like to bring. Help us make this the biggest Parade yet and keep tradition alive in our small town!
