Yesterday, officers with the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department and several other agencies responded to reports of shots fired by a young male near the Alton Lennon Dam. Officers cleared the area, and while no suspect has been identified at this time, the incident remains under active investigation.

To maintain the integrity of the investigation, no additional details are being released. However, there is currently no known imminent threat to the community.

The Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department along with several other agencies responded to reports of a young male individual discharging a firearm near the Alton Lennon Dam Site at approximately 5:00 PM this evening. Officers were immediately dispatched to the area to ensure public safety and to investigate the incident.

At this time, no injuries have been reported. The public is urged to avoid the area while officers continue to conduct their investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department by calling 9-1-1.

This week, we especially remember our fallen officer, Mitch Prince. His dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten. Officer Prince’s service and sacrifice remain a lasting part of our department’s history.

On April 1, 2026, officers with the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department received a report regarding possible indecent liberties with a juvenile. As a result of the investigation, Eliodoro Enoel Rivas, 49, of Boiling Spring Lakes, was charged with the following:

Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child
Felony Statutory Sexual Offense with a Child by an Adult

With assistance from the Leland Police Department, Mr. Rivas was arrested and booked into the Brunswick County Detention Center on April 24, 2026. He remains in custody at the Brunswick County Detention Center with no bond.
