In observance of Memorial Day, South Middleton Township offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Waste Management will also be observing the holiday. There will be NO trash collection on Monday, May 25, and all services will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

The Compost Site will be open regular Saturday hours.

As we enjoy the holiday weekend, we remember and honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Petersburg Road will be closed 24 hours a day from Wednesday, May 20 through Friday, May 22, 2026 for sewer line repairs.

The closure will be between Fairview Street and Westminster Drive, as shown on the attached map. Please plan ahead and use alternate routes during this time.

Beginning Friday, May 8 through Tuesday, May 12, the bridge on Bonnybrook Rd. crossing the Letort Stream will be closed to all traffic for structural repairs. Detour signs will be posted prior to the closure.

The closure location is highlighted on the attached map.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution in the area. We appreciate everyone’s patience during these necessary repairs.

South Middleton Township and Citizens Fire Company No. 1 are teaming up to make it easy to safely dispose of your unwanted electronics!

Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30 from 11:00am - 2:00pm at Citizens Fire Company (405 Forge Road, Boiling Springs)

Bring your old or unused electronics and clear out the clutter the responsible way! Items accepted include TVs, computers and accessories, mobile devices, entertainment equipment, data center equipment, cables, microwave ovens, and batteries.

Take advantage of this opportunity to safely recycle your electronics! We encourage all residents to participate and help make this event a success!

Spring Brush Collection will take place from April 13-April 24.

To ensure collection, all yard waste must be prepared according to the following guidelines:

• Brush trimmings and branches must be securely bundled using twine or cotton string (wire and plastic ties are not permitted).
• Bundles may not exceed 4 feet in length or 40 pounds in weight.
• Garden waste, including fruits, vegetables, weeds, and other plant material, will not be accepted, as these items are prohibited under the Township’s leaf and yard waste composting permit.

Residents with brush for collection must call the Township office at 717-258-5324 to be added to the pickup schedule.

Rockledge Drive will be closed on Friday, April 10th from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM for tree removal and bank regrading.

The closure will be in effect between Oak School Road and Route 174, as highlighted in blue on the attached map. Work will take place in the areas marked with orange X’s.

Please plan accordingly and avoid the area during this time. We appreciate your patience!

Traffic Alert

There is currently a police incident at the intersection of Petersburg Road and Rt. I74 (Old York Rd.).

Residents are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Bucher Hill Road will be closed for the first day of fishing activities beginning Friday, April 3 at 6:00 PM through Saturday, April 4 at 6:00 PM.

On Saturday, food trucks will be set up in the closed section of the roadway (highlighted in blue on the attached photo).

Please plan ahead and use alternate routes. We appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy the festivities!
