South Middleton School District is excited to welcome our students back tomorrow, Thursday, August 27, 2026!

As we get ready for the first day, please remember to:

🚌 Check Sapphire for your child’s bus information.

⏰ Be at your bus stop 10 minutes prior to the listed pick-up time.

🚍 Please plan for delays on the first day. With it being the first day of school, bus routes may take longer than usual, and drop-off times could be delayed as our drivers, students, and families get accustomed to new routes and schedules. We appreciate your patience and understanding!

We can’t wait to see our students back in our schools and kick off another great school year!

It was an exciting morning as the South Middleton School District faculty and staff kicked off the 2026–27 school year with our annual district assembly!

Superintendent, Dr. O’Donnell, shared our mission, vision, and goals for the year ahead, while Board President, Brad Group, recognized and celebrated staff members who achieved 20, 25, and 30 years of service. What an incredible milestone and testament to the dedication of our staff!

We were also treated to a performance by our high school band, helping set the tone for a great year ahead! 🎶

Before the first day of school, please be sure to log into the Sapphire Parent Portal and complete all required student forms. Completing these forms in advance will help ensure everything is ready for a smooth start to the school year!

This week, South Middleton School District welcomed our newest teachers with two days of induction!

These two days were filled with learning about our school district, getting to know administrators, connecting with mentor teachers, and even taking a bus ride around the district to see our schools and community.

A special thank you to the South Middleton Education Association and the Bubbler Foundation for providing lunch for our new teachers both days!

We are so excited to welcome these talented educators to SMSD and look forward to all they will bring to our students and schools!

Please note that several areas of our parking lots will be seal coated this weekend.

🚧 The following areas will be closed from Friday, July 24, through Sunday, July 26:

- The Academy Drive entrance leading up to Boiling Springs High School
- The parking lot between the high school and the maintenance building, extending to Springville Road
- The high school student parking lot

🚗 Parking Access: Visitors may use the parking lot between the high school and Yellow Breeches Middle School by entering from Springville Road, near the middle school.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this maintenance to help preserve our parking lots.

‼️ BSHS Building Closure 7/15/26

This afternoon, a mechanical unit at Boiling Springs High School experienced a refrigerant leak. We appreciate the quick response of our emergency personnel, who assisted in ensuring the safety of the area.

As we continue to address the situation, all indoor activities at Boiling Springs High School are canceled for this evening. Information regarding outdoor activities will be communicated directly by coaches and advisors.

The last student day of the school year is tomorrow, Friday, May 29 and is an early dismissal day for students. BSHS students will dismiss after their final exams, YBMS students at 12:00 PM, and IFES and RICE students at 1:00 PM.

Summer school office hours begin the week of June 8 in which offices will be open Monday-Thursday and closed Fridays through August 7. Due to a number of facility projects planned this summer, please call ahead before visiting to ensure offices are open (717) 258-6484.

Information about the upcoming school year will be communicated with families in early August and the first student day of the 2026-2027 school year is Thursday, August 27, 2026.

This evening is the Class of 2026 Commencement at Ecker Stadium at 7pm. Gates open at 6pm and tickets are required for entry. Handicap entry will be at the two gates by Iron Forge Elementary School along with handicap parking.
