For the next couple of days wildfire danger is high. Try to do your part to prevent flames or sparks from contacting the very dry fuels. If you see smoke don't hesitate to call 911.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of the founding members of the Wheeless Mexhoma Fire Department Glen Topper. He was an instrumental part in getting our first truck and building the building. He was always there when something needed worked on and to fight a fire. He was also the fire chief for many years. He will be missed by us all. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.

At 3:30 pm today Wheeless, Boise City and Kenton FD responded to a fire 6 miles north on NS 16 and 325 that was started by lightning. During this Boise City had to leave to respond to other lightning fires. Wheeless and Kenton also responded to another fire a few miles South east from the first fire. First fire burned 50 acres and the second one was 14 acres. The grass might be green but our high temps have dried it out so be careful with fire around this vegetation.
All trucks back to station at 8:30 pm.

We would like to thank everyone that came out and supported the Wheeless Fire Department and the Kenton Fire Department at our 4th of July Fundraiser. We would also like to thank everyone who made donations. Without all of your support it would not have been possible. We had a great evening with the parade, food, games, bounce house, dancing, and an amazing fireworks show. Thank you all again for your support for these rural fire departments!
