Water is a limited resource, especially during drought years. You can reduce the amount of water you use at home this summer with a few simple steps: fix leaks, water lawns and gardens during cooler parts of the day, use rain barrels to collect water for plants and install water-efficient fixtures to reduce water use and save money.

The revised proposal reduces the amount of property tax revenue the city needs to collect, saving Boise residents approximately $2.9 million. The revised increase represents a property tax increase of just 2.7%, lower than the 4% increase proposed last month. The Boise City Council will consider the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget during upcoming public meetings before final adoption later this year.

When you're taking your recycling out, don't forget to flatten all your boxes. Not only does it mean more space in your cart, it also helps the team at the recycling facility sort much easier!

New this year, we launched an opportunity for mobile food vendors to sell in Boise's parks! Food vendors can purchase a daily permit for $27 to sell concessions at Fort Boise Park, Julia Davis Park, Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park, Molenaar Park and Veterans Memorial Park.

Only one vendor will be permitted at each location each day. Permits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and vendors must provide their vending license and insurance.

Warmer weather means more outdoor gatherings and an easy chance to cut down on waste. Pack a simple “reuse kit” to take with you that includes reusable napkins, utensils and cups for meals on the go, and keep a few tote bags handy for markets or errands. Bring resealable containers for leftovers, and if you’re hosting, set out a spot for food scraps to turn waste into compost. Small steps can make a big difference all summer long!

The most effective way to manage our waste is to not create it in the first place. The act of reducing and reusing means consuming more responsibly and putting fewer materials in our trash, recycling, and compost carts.
