Four graders. Nearly a week. About 100 miles of work.
When the Big Grass Fire grew to a size that required a multiagency response, our southwest Idaho crews answered the call.
Brian, Mike, Jake and Brian spent up to 12 hours a day behind the controls, grading roads, widening narrow two-tracks and turning dozer lines into roads firefighters could use to access the fire and strengthen containment lines.
The work took them through remote country and even into Nevada, with dust, wind, thunderstorms and mud along the way. And behind the scenes, mechanics and employees across southwest Idaho worked to get equipment serviced, inspected and transported so the crew could get to work.
From maintaining Idaho's highways to helping firefighters on the front lines, this is what teamwork across agencies looks like 🤝 Idaho Department of Lands
