Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember every person whose life has been lost to overdose. Each person was loved, valued and so much more than the circumstances of their death.

In 2025, Idaho lost 294 people to overdose. Behind that number are families, friends and communities carrying their absence.

At Thrive Community Services, we believe overdose deaths are preventable. We will continue meeting people where they are, providing education and lifesaving resources, building connection and challenging the stigma that keeps people from seeking help.

Today, we remember those we have lost, stand beside those who are still here and recommit ourselves to ending overdose. 💜

On Saturday, August 29, Thrive Community Services and Central District Health came together at Boise City Hall Plaza to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day.

We placed 294 plaques throughout the plaza—one for each life lost to overdose in Idaho in 2025. Each plaque represented a person whose life mattered and a family, friend or community left to carry their loss.

Throughout the evening, we distributed 94 boxes of Narcan, single-dose Narcan keychains, test strips and CPR masks. More importantly, we had meaningful conversations, shared resources and provided education that can help save lives.

We are grateful to everyone who stopped by, shared a story, asked a question or took supplies home.

When we educate and empower our community, we reduce stigma—and we create more opportunities for people to stay alive.

We remember those we have lost. We support those who are still here. 💜

Naloxone saves lives.

Naloxone—often known by the brand name NARCAN®—is a medication that can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose. Having it available and knowing how to use it can mean the difference between life and death.

You don't have to be a healthcare professional to carry Naloxone. Friends, family members, coworkers, community members—anyone can be prepared to respond to an overdose.

Thrive helps make Naloxone accessible in our community, including free access in our Boise and Caldwell front office lobbies and through community-based overdose prevention efforts.

Take a few minutes to learn the facts on the accompanying fact sheet. Knowing what to do matters.

For more information about Naloxone, overdose prevention resources, or educational presentations, contact Thrive. 💜
