If you’re the kind of person who enjoys working with your hands, solving problems, and building vehicles that support first responders, this might be the job for you! We're hiring an Emergency Vehicle Upfitter Technician to help outfit and maintain the fleet that keeps our deputies and agency moving.

This is not your average shop position. Our technicians work on patrol vehicles, undermarked vehicles, boats, buses, motorcycles, UTVs, and more. The work includes installing lights, sirens, radios, partitions, wiring harnesses, and other specialized law enforcement equipment, along with diagnosing vehicle systems, fabricating custom mounts and brackets, and performing maintenance and repairs.

We’re looking for someone with strong attention to detail, solid mechanical and electrical knowledge, and pride in doing quality work. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. ASE certifications in Steering & Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), and Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6) are required. Candidates must also obtain EVT certification and Sound Off Signal certification within one year of hire.

The shop operates seven days a week, with staff working four 10-hour shifts (aka three-day weekends), giving you more time away from work while still being part of a mission driven team.

Yesterday, we had the honor of celebrating Chief Mike Fratusco's retirement after more than 23 years of service with the Ada County Sheriff’s Office — along with six years of active duty service in the United States Coast Guard and two years in the Idaho Air National Guard. Earlier this week, Chief Fratusco was also recognized by the Kuna City Council for his years of leadership and service to the Kuna community.

Since joining ACSO in 2002, Mike served in numerous assignments across the agency before being sworn in as Kuna Police Chief in 2020. Throughout his career, he built a reputation as a respected leader, mentor, and teammate who genuinely cared about both the people he worked alongside and the communities he served.

Mike took tremendous pride in the partnerships built between ACSO and the City of Kuna, including the establishment of Kuna’s first standalone police substation.

Thank you, Chief Fratusco, for your decades of service to our country, Ada County, and the people of Kuna.
