Career technical education is about preparing students for success while helping them understand the communities, cultures, and stories that shape our world.

At Connect Summer Conference, we're honored to welcome Randy'L Teton, author, educator, and the model for the U.S. Sacajawea Golden Dollar coin, for a special session, The Authentic Story of Sacajawea: A Shoshone Perspective.

Drawing from her Shoshone heritage, Randy'L will share an authentic perspective on the life and legacy of Sacajawea, encouraging attendees to think critically about the stories we teach, the voices we elevate, and the importance of cultural understanding in education.

Whether you're in the classroom or supporting students in another role, this session offers an opportunity to reflect on how authentic storytelling can inspire learning and help students connect with history in meaningful ways.

Thank you to the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for sponsoring this special session. We can't wait to see you next week at Connect 2026!

Idaho is growing fast and so is the demand for skilled trades. Right now, one of the biggest needs is plumbers.

A recent KTVB story highlights a statewide challenge. There simply are not enough trained workers entering the trades to keep up with demand. That gap is creating real opportunities for students and job seekers across Idaho.

Marcos from the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education shared how CTE programs are part of the solution. Through hands on learning and strong partnerships with industry, students are building skills that lead directly to high demand careers.

Idaho's plumbing workforce can't keep up with the state's growth. Industry leaders and educators worry about what comes next if nothing change.
