Idaho Supports Medicaid is a network of healthcare providers, community organizations, and individual advocates committed to preserving Medicaid for eligible Idahoans. Hillarie Matlock, the policy director for Idaho Voices for Children, said uninsured sick people will face a Catch-22: they can’t get Medicaid without first seeing a doctor to get proof of their condition, but they can’t afford to see a doctor without insurance.

“We are grateful that lawmakers blocked Medicaid expansion repeal, and restored some critical mental health programs, but they also left $239 million unspent while cutting $45 million from Medicaid,” Matlock told the Sun. “That wasn’t unavoidable. It was a choice by the Legislature. And in the end, Idaho families and providers are going to feel the impacts of that.”

Idaho lawmakers adopted Medicaid expansion work requirements, cut disability caregiver pay rates, and restored cut mental health programs.
