For those of you that are new to us, we are a voluntary organization that was established in 2014 to ease the burden of managing Johnson Creek Road access. It is NOT a county maintained road so it is a neighborhood effort to keep it commutable year round.

We collect a monthly fee per property owner that utilizes Johnson Creek Road to access their home/land. The dues are set at $25 a month for properties with building structures and $15 a month for land only. Monies raised pay for fuel, rentals, contract labor to deliver, move gravel, grading, the purchase of culverts & installation, plus other road maintenance. Officers work together with members to draft a budget, account & manage funds collected, coordinate volunteer projects & communicate with members.

2017 was a record year for the Association! We hosted 2 BBQs where we were able to share our annual budget, communicate ideas and discuss plans for upcoming projects. Several weekends were spent by volunteers donating their own equipment & fuel to clear brush and trees in order to widen the road. Grading was also done with volunteer equipment to create turnouts for traffic as well as generate space to push snow. We also created a FaceBook page (find road status & pictures of progress) and setup an email address for the Association. So many more goals were reached to be proud of!

For 2018, funds raised will be used to purchase a plow and obtain a salt/sander for winter. We also need additional gravel & grading in areas of Johnson Creek Road. Given time & the number of volunteers, we hope to create more turnouts and continue to widen the lanes where possible.

Without the help of volunteers & the Association that donate their time and funds, the road would be left to mother nature. It would then be every individual property owner's responsibility to access their property(ies). It is so much easier to work together as a community to share the burden of the main road maintenance to make sure that the fire department, emergency & security vehicles (and even simple things like propane trucks) can arrive safely and timely. Please, if you haven't already done so, we strongly encourage you to pay your dues.

Thank you so much for your time,

Johnson Creek Road Association

Work is being done on the road right now to smooth out the washboards, fill potholes and clear ditches before the ground is frozen solid. Please allow for traffic delays. A huge thank you to our President Dave Wegley and member Rob Talburt for their time invested and Kathy Silverthorn for the donation of her tractor.

EXCITING NEWS we wanted to share with our members...the Association finally has some designated equipment!!! We purchased a used truck today for $1,250. All we need now is the snow plow to attach to it for the winter. If any of you have one for sale or know of someone that does, please do not hesitate to contact us. This is an exciting first for the Road Association!!

Greetings fellow members!! The leaves have fallen, the temps have dropped, and flurries have already started to fly. We spent countless hours this year to get prepared for the winter season...brush and trees were cut and dirt moved to widen the road to allow for more areas to push snow, culverts/gravel were also installed to prevent spring runoff erosion, etc. Johnson Creek Road Association relies on neighborly volunteers to make year round access to properties possible. The more winter participation we have, the easier daily commuting becomes. Please message us through this FaceBook page or email us at [email protected] if you have available time and/or equipment to help with snow removal. We have fuel (gasoline) for ease of use this year. Thank you in advance to those that continue to join us for the community road maintenance needs - we couldn’t do it without you!

It has come to our attention from several members that there is a problem with dogs running at large in the neighborhood. If you have any information that would help us locate the owners, please contact us immediately. We respectfully ask that nobody take matters into their own hands so as to prevent the harm of a beloved family pet. Our Association has been successful at aiding several homes in reconnecting with their loose dogs. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Neighbors,
We live in a migratory area for lots of wildlife (which is one of the many things we all love about being up here) but know that even quiet herbivores turn aggressive when they fear for their young. There have been Deer with fawns and Elk herds with young on game trails in the area recently. Hikers and campers take caution as you are out in the early morning or late evening as they start to move about. Please be considerate and keep your dogs up as they pass through. Moose can inflict just as much harm (if not more) as a bear.

Safety first!
