Wrapping Up Our OnMed Center Outreach in Greene County

As we wrap up our work with the OnMed Center located at the Boligee Community Center in Greene County, Alabama, we want to recognize the outstanding efforts of Ms. Iris Sermon for her dedication and commitment to serving our community.

Throughout this month, Ms. Sermon visited senior citizen sites in Boligee, Eutaw, Forkland, and the Tishabee area, where she distributed medical supplies and provided hands-on demonstrations on the proper use of pulse oximeters, blood glucose monitors and blood pressure cuffs. Her educational outreach helped equip community members with valuable knowledge and resources to better monitor their health at home.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation and sincere gratitude to Ms. Sermon for a job exceptionally well done. Her tireless efforts in promoting and encouraging the use of the OnMed Center have helped increase awareness of affordable, convenient healthcare services throughout Greene County.

The Greene County Extension Office remains committed to improving healthcare access and ensuring that residents are aware of the healthcare resources available throughout our county.

On June 16, 2026, the West Alabama Maternity Care Coalition and Mrs. Iris Sermon (OnMed Admin) hosted a community panel discussion at the Boligee Community Center, home to the OnMed clinic and the Alabama Extension Services of Greene County site. The event brought together local residents, healthcare professionals, and community leaders to share their insights, experiences, and perspectives on the challenges and opportunities surrounding maternal health in Greene County.

The discussion provided an important platform for community voices to be heard while fostering collaboration among organizations dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes. Through partnerships like these, Greene County continues to work toward expanding access to quality healthcare and creating healthier futures for mothers, babies, and families across the community.

Celebrating 250 Years of Community
The Grow More, Give More 250 Pound Challenge represents Alabama Extension’s longstanding commitment to serving others. By being a part of the challenge, residents across the state can strengthen their communities and ensure that more families have access to fresh, nutritious produce.

The challenge is an effort in support of America250 at Auburn University, a yearlong celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout the year, Auburn will engage the public through a series of events and activities that highlights the university’s commitment to open inquiry, rigorous scholarship, and thoughtful engagement.
