🗓 Mark your calendars! 🗓

For the past 10 years, the Bolingbrook Historic Preservation Commission and the Fountaindale Public Library have partnered to read stories and learn history.

To celebrate this anniversary, the BHPC and Fountaindale have teamed up to host a celebration at the Bolingbrook Historical Museum (444 E. Briarcliff Road) on Saturday, August 29th from 1 pm to 4 pm. Check out a book from the Bookmobile, play exciting games, read during storytime, and more!

There's something new to check out at the Museum!

For the 250th Anniversary of American Independence, the Bolingbrook Historic Preservation Commission has installed a new exhibit showing off some of the United States' (and Bolingbrook's) early history. This exhibit includes:

➡️Women of the American Revolution
➡️The Founding Farm Families of the Bolingbrook area
➡️The 250-year-old Sugar Maple Tree
➡️DuPage Township History
➡️America's Founding Documents

Whether you are a long-time resident, new to the area, or simply love local history, we invite you to check out this historic exhibit (see what we did there).

The Museum is open on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays every month from 1 to 3 pm.

On this day, 250 years ago, the Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the Thirteen Colonies as independent States and establishing the United States of America.

The Declaration of Independence is more than just about American independence. It is about the principles and ideas that have inspired and influenced generations of Americans and people all around the world: freedom, democracy, human rights, equality, and more. The United States was founded on those principles and ideas. It is up to every generation--then, now, and after--to ensure that those principles and ideas build towards a more perfect union.
