Illinois Is Rigging the Game — And Most People Have No Idea
The deck is stacked before a single vote is cast.
Right now in Illinois, if you're a Democrat or Republican running for office statewide, you need just 5,000 signatures to get on the ballot. But if you're a Green Party candidate — or any third-party voice — you need 25,000 signatures. That's 5 times more work just to be heard.
Democrats and Republicans literally co-wrote the rules to keep community voices locked out. They built a gate around the ballot and handed each other the only keys. Meanwhile, candidates like Griselda Romero — who actually represents working people, not party donors — have to climb a mountain just to reach the starting line.
Think about that: a feather on one side of the scale (major party access), and a mountain of 25,000 petitions on the other (third-party access). The courts call this equal. We call it what it is — unjust.
This is your government. These are your elections. Your vote is being shaped before you ever step in the booth.
