🇺🇸 25 Years — We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

We pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day and to honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape. Firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, 9-1-1 telecommunicators, military members, and countless ordinary citizens answered an unimaginable tragedy with bravery, compassion, and selflessness.

We also remember the first responders who suffered lasting health effects and those who have lost their lives in the years since because of their service at Ground Zero.

Twenty-five years have passed, but the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the courage shown will never be forgotten.

Today, Polk County Central Dispatch honors every life taken, every family forever changed, and every first responder who answered the call.

September 11, 2001 — Never Forget. 🇺🇸

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and we want to take a moment to recognize the first voices you hear when you have an emergency.

Those same voices work to notify our police officers and firefighters, send them directions, relate essential information from the scene, get our first responders the resources they need to help you, and more.

The people who work with Polk County Central Dispatch often don't get the recognition they deserve, and we want to take a moment to say "THANK YOU" to them for all they do!
