Think you have the biggest tomato in Hardeman County? How about the most unusual shape or the best tomato dish? Join us for the 2026 Hardeman County Tomato Contest!

⏰ Entries Accepted: 9:00 a.m.
⏰ Judging Begins: 10:00 a.m.

This contest is FREE to enter and open to both Youth and Adult participants! Ribbon awards will be presented in each category.

🍅 Weirdest Shape
🍅 3 Best Red Tomatoes
🍅 3 Best Green Tomatoes
🍅 10 Best Cherry Tomatoes
🍅 Best Cold Tomato Dish
🍅 Best Cooked Tomato Dish

Contest Rules:
✔️ All tomatoes entered in the tomato categories must be grown by the participant.
✔️ Tomato dishes do not have to be prepared using tomatoes grown by the participant.
✔️ Participants may enter multiple categories.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just enjoy growing a few tomatoes each summer, we encourage you to bring your entries and join the fun. We look forward to celebrating the gardening talents of Hardeman County!

🌿 Herb Workshop Success! 🌿

Today, UT-TSU Extension Hardeman County hosted an Herb Workshop for the community, and we were excited to see such a great turnout!

Participants learned valuable information about growing herbs, proper storage techniques, and ways to use herbs in everyday cooking. We also discussed the importance of food safety when harvesting and preparing fresh herbs from the garden.

Each participant received an herb plant, container, seeds, strainer, water bottle, gardening tool, and refrigerator thermometer to help them continue their herb-growing journey at home.

It's always rewarding to see so many people interested in growing their own food and learning safe, practical ways to use fresh herbs in the kitchen. Thank you to everyone who attended and made today's workshop a success!
