🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Who supports the people who run toward emergencies and care for others through traumatic moments?

People working in fire, rescue, law enforcement, EMS, and healthcare regularly encounter traumatic events as part of their jobs. Repeated exposure can affect mental health and increase the risk of PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Concerns about possible career repercussions can make it difficult to seek support.

Brunswick Community College is offering Peer Support Train the Trainer on January 9–10 at the Alan Holden Public Safety Center. The course helps prepare participants to support colleagues affected by traumatic events and understand critical incident stress.

Fire, rescue, EMS, law enforcement, healthcare and behavioral health professionals, chaplains, supervisors, and other emergency services personnel are encouraged to attend.

For more information, email [email protected] or visit frpsn.org.

If you or someone you know needs support, Safe Call Now is available at 206-459-3020, and the Frontline Helpline is available at 866-676-7500. Law enforcement personnel and their families can call COPLINE at 800-267-5463. Fire and EMS behavioral health resources are available through the NVFC’s Share the Load program. For immediate emotional support, call or text 988.

Help us break the stigma. Check in on someone, talk openly about mental health, and make it easier to ask for support.

πŸš’ FIRST DUE OPERATOR | OCTOBER 23–24
First Due Operator kicks off this Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Boiling Spring Lakes Fire Department.

Knowing how to operate the pump is one thing. Knowing how to put that apparatus to work when you're first due is another. Online registration has closed, but you can still register in person on the first day of class!

πŸš‚ CSX RESPONDER INCIDENT TRAINING | DECEMBER 14–17
Brunswick Community College is excited to partner with Navassa Fire Department to offer CSX Responder Incident Training (RIT) this December!

We want to recognize and thank Navassa Fire Department for taking the initiative to bring this training opportunity to our area. Through their efforts and coordination with CSX, and with BCC providing educational support, first responders will have access to valuable railroad emergency response training right here in Brunswick County.

This training will cover railroad and hazardous materials safety, incident management, initial response, tank cars, locomotives, and hands-on training involving railroad equipment.

The event will take place December 14–17 at 407 Old Mill Road NE in Navassa, with multiple sessions available each day.

Participants must complete the required CSX online training before attending. Please review the attached flyer for registration instructions, recommended PPE, and additional information.

Don't miss these opportunities to expand your training and sharpen your skills!
