๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ’™ From Goal to Graduation โ€” Congratulations, Kiki! ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽ“

Three months. One goal. A future transformed.

Kiki connected with NCWorks through workforce and education services available in Brunswick County and enrolled as a GEAR student through Adult Education at Brunswick Community College with the goal of earning her high school diploma. She accomplished it! โœจ

With determination, encouragement, and access to educational and career support services, Kiki completed her program in just three months. Throughout the journey, she remained motivated, appreciative, and focused on building more opportunities for herself and her family.

Today, Kiki is celebrating this milestone while caring for her two children and already planning her next chapter. She will continue her education and pursue her Certified Nursing Assistant credential. ๐Ÿ’™

Her story is a reminder that education and workforce support can create new possibilities.

If youโ€™ve been thinking:
โœจ I want to finish school
โœจ I want to gain new skills
โœจ I want better career opportunities
โœจ I want to build a stronger future for my family

NCWorks at Brunswick Community College partners with Adult Education, Training and Career services and Employment services to help individuals connect to career guidance, training opportunities, education pathways, and employment support.

Join us in celebrating Kiki and cheering her on as she continues building her future! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

North Carolina is rethinking workforce development โ€” and Brunswick County has a seat at the table.

In March, we joined workforce leaders from across North Carolina in Greensboro for a statewide strategy meeting focused on the future of jobs, training, apprenticeships, and employer partnerships.

Representatives from NCWorks, Workforce Development Boards, Business Services teams, and statewide workforce leaders came together with one shared goal:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Build stronger connections between employers, education, and people looking for opportunity.

The conversation focused on how we can:
โœ”๏ธ Help businesses find skilled workers
โœ”๏ธ Expand apprenticeships and hands-on training
โœ”๏ธ Create clearer career pathways
โœ”๏ธ Better connect jobseekers to local opportunities
โœ”๏ธ Work together across agencies and organizations instead of in silos

Itโ€™s exciting to see North Carolina investing in new ideas and stronger partnerships to support both employers and jobseekers โ€” and even more exciting to bring those conversations and ideas back to Brunswick County through NCWorks and Brunswick Community College.

The future of workforce development is collaboration, innovation, and creating real opportunities for people to grow, train, and succeed right here in our communities.

Brunswick County continues to grow as a strong workforce and business destination. NCWorks Career Center at Brunswick Community College is proud to support local employers and jobseekers through workforce partnerships, career services, training connections, and hiring support across our region.

Brunswick County, NC is a workforce advantage location!๐ŸŽฏ

A population surge of 24% occurred between 2020 and 2024, adding close to 33,000 additional residents, bringing the total estimated population to nearly 170,000. With close proximity to the military and a strong workforce from Brunswick County, the area is experiencing a growth surge. People are also relocating here from New Jersey, South Carolina, Maryland, and New York, bringing skills, experience, and stability with them. That kind of migration strengthens the talent base that local and incoming businesses can draw from:

๐Ÿ’ผ Offers a deep, proven pipeline of professionals: Brunswick County currently has a diverse, experienced talent pool that includes over 200,000 skilled workers and a civil labor force exceeding 66,000, which is more than double what it was 30 years ago. New arrivals from higher-cost northeastern states often bring established careers, financial stability, and professional networks that benefit the entire economy.

๐ŸŽ“ Education, training, and veteran talent are plentiful: With two universities, three community colleges, and programs like NCWorks and OJT, the existing population is continuing to grow into workforce-ready candidates. The excellent regional veteran population, with leadership, decision-making skills, and technical expertise, combined with incoming new populations, creates an ideal location for employers considering long-term growth.

If your business is considering expanding or relocating, Brunswick Countyโ€™s workforce is ready and growing. Read more about our valuable workforce in the first comment! ๐ŸŒ
