August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day. Overdose continues to affect every community. Yet it can be prevented. We know how to reduce risk and keep people safe. By speaking openly, learning from one another, and treating each other with care and respect, we build a world where fewer lives are lost. Because while this day is still needed, it doesn’t have to be forever.

Rember, you can receive Naloxone for free at Brunswick County Health Services and Coastal Horizons.

πŸŽ’πŸ“š Help Your Child Start the School Year Healthy & Strong! πŸ’™

Back-to-school season is the perfect time to reset healthy routines and make sure your child has what they need to thrive throughout the year.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends focusing on three key areas:

😴 Healthy routines β€” Prioritize sleep, nutritious meals, physical activity, and healthy screen-time habits.

🩺 Preventive care β€” Make sure your child is up to date on annual checkups, physicals, and recommended immunizations.

🧠 Mental health β€” Check in with your child, create space for open conversations, and make sure they know which trusted adults they can turn to for support.

Small steps at home can make a big difference in a child’s health, well-being, attendance, and ability to learn. πŸ’™
