The Bolton Boys Varsity Baseball team’s season came to a close with a nail-biting 1-0 loss vs Section II’s championship team, the Duanesburg Eagles, in the Regional Championship game at Plattsburgh High School. The Bolton Eagles finished with a 15-4 record, are ranked #2 in the state, and are Section VII, Class D champions.

Jace Hubert and Jaxon Egloff were selected as MVAC 1st team All-Stars, with Jacob French and Will Hens earning 2nd team honors. Liam Foy earned MVP of the Sectional Championship game. The Eagles graduate seven seniors this year, who have led the team to two Section VII Baseball titles.

WELL DONE! Congratulations on a fantastic season!

Each year in Mr. Kober’s World History and AP US History classes and Mrs. Humiston’s Pre-AP English 10 and AP Language and Composition classes, studying the Holocaust is a vital part of their curricula. Learning about this time period from different perspectives gives the students a deeper understanding of the historical context as well as a greater compassion for those affected by this terrible event. Some of their students even turned learning into action.

In April, B’nai B'rith held its annual Capital Area Holocaust essay contest that is open to students in grades 10-12 in area counties stretching from Greene and Columbia to Hamilton and Warren counties. Recently, 10th grade student Ella Hens was named this year’s third place finisher. The essay topic asked students to Identify a Holocaust survivor, rescuer, or witness. What is the most important question you would ask them about the danger of silence? Why is their perspective important as a warning for students in the 21st Century?

Ella’s essay entitled The Danger of Silence speaks about Róża Robota who was sent to Auschwitz and “became a leader and a symbol of hope for many of the incarcerated victims in Auschwitz-Birkenau.” Hens identified Robota’s bravery as an example for why education is vital citing the ongoing challenges and injustices we continue to witness today.

In May, several students attended a talk given by a Holocaust survivor Rena Bernstein at the Crandall Library. Bernstein recounted her life as a very young girl as the Nazi's invaded Poland. She spoke of her parents' struggle for survival and her reuniting with them due solely to the assistance of those willing to put their own lives on the line to protect Jewish citizens of Poland. It was an emotional yet inspiring evening listening to Rena Bernstein’s testament of strength as she recounted her story. We are privileged to have heard her speak.

These powerful experiences—both through Ella’s award-winning writing and the deeply moving evening with Rena Bernstein—bridge the gap between history books and the real world. By studying the heroes of the past and listening to the voices of those who survived, these students are doing far more than fulfilling a curriculum requirement. They are discovering that history is a living lesson, and they are carrying forward the vital reminder that silence is never an option when confronting injustice.

For the past decade Proctors Collaborative School of the Arts has hosted the High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA) to celebrate the hard work and talent of students across the Capital Region during their musical season. This year, Bolton Central School was one of 25 participating schools.

As part of the process, three judges attended our performances and provided feedback on various aspects of our production. We also had the opportunity to send two representatives, Lydia Phelps and Teddy Phelps, to Proctors Theatre in Schenectady for a week of intensive rehearsals, as well as a masterclass with this year’s HSMTA host, Apollo Levine, who is currently performing in MJ: The Musical on Broadway.

This was an incredible opportunity for our Drama Club to receive outside feedback, continue strengthening our program, and give our students the chance to collaborate with other schools and professionals in the arts.

As we approach the end of the school year, we are preparing for the return of student Chromebooks before summer break.

Chromebook collection will take place on Monday, June 15th and Tuesday, June 16th, during student lunch periods in the cafeteria. Students should return both their Chromebook and charger on one of these days.

Please note:
When returning Chromebooks, be sure that it has enough of a charge to turn on and that you are returning your school issued power cord.
Devices with physical or structural damage may be subject to repair fees, as outlined in the device user agreement.
Chargers should be wrapped neatly to help us keep the process organized.
If a student needs to keep their Chromebook for final exams, they just need to let Mr. Ronning know and he will make arrangements to collect it before or after their last test. This is for inventory and collection purposes as devices that are not returned by the end of the year are presumed lost.

Any questions or concerns should be directed to Mr. Ronning.
