Newton County Fire Alert – January 20, 2026

FIRE DANGER REMAINS ELEVATED TODAY.🔥

While winds are lighter today (5–10 mph), our area remains very dry. Please use extreme caution with any outdoor activities that could cause a spark.

Humidity: RH is currently between 57% and 66%. While higher than yesterday, fuels like grass and brush are still critically dry and can ignite easily.

Safety Tip: Ensure trailer chains are not dragging and avoid parking vehicles in tall, dry grass.
Substantial rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, which will help improve these conditions.

Stay safe, Newton County!

In case of fire, call 911 immediately.
