🚔 Join the Bonanza Police Department as a Reserve Officer 🚔

The Bonanza Police Department is currently looking to add Reserve Officers to our team.

We are a small-town department that takes pride in serving our community with integrity, professionalism, and heart. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to get involved in law enforcement, this is a great opportunity to step in and make a difference.

✅ Already certified? We’d love to have you bring your experience to our team.
✅ Not certified yet? That’s okay too. We are willing to work with motivated individuals who are eager to learn and gain real-world experience.

This is an excellent opportunity to:
• Gain hands-on law enforcement experience
• Build your skills and confidence
• Get your foot in the door for a future career in policing
• Serve and protect a close-knit community

If you’re dedicated, dependable, and ready to serve, we encourage you to apply.

The Bonanza Police Department sends our deepest condolences and prayers to the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office as well the families and fellow officers affected during this heartbreaking and difficult time.

We honor a deputy who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community. May you rest in peace and God bless your family. We also continue to pray over the Wister Police Department Officer that was injured.

The Bonanza Police Dept. has found a very important suspect…

Charges include:
• Excessive tail wagging
• Loitering without a human
• Suspicion of being the Goodest Dog

This sweet pup was found wandering and is currently hanging out safely with our officers. While they’re enjoying the extra head scratches, we’re pretty sure someone out there is missing their furry family member.

If this is your dog (or you know who this canine belongs to), please contact the Bonanza Police Dept. (479) 255-6093 as soon as possible with proof of ownership.

Let’s get this buddy back home where the treats are plentiful and the couch privileges are fully restored!

Please share to help reunite this pup with their people!

Well folks… we’ve made an arrest in connection with the recent criminally cold conditions.

Our Ice Queen has been taken into custody and will be transported back to Arendelle, where she belongs.

While she’s off cooling her heels, we’re still looking at several severe cold days ahead. The big winter storms appear to be behind us for now, but Mother Nature left us plenty of snow and ice as souvenirs.

Please remember to:

✅ Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and anyone who may have trouble getting around
✅ Take your time on the roads. Ice doesn’t care how good your tires are
✅ Bundle up. We’re expecting single-digit temperatures over the next few nights, and that kind of cold can be dangerous

Stay warm, stay safe, and look out for one another. We are still out checking on everyone, if you need someone checked in on feel free to call our non-emergency number (479) 255-6093.

Snowmageddon 2026 has started, and with that in mind we are still encouraging everyone to avoid traveling. Your couch, a blanket, and questionable amounts of hot chocolate are still the safest destinations.

If you must travel, the following routes are currently passable:
➡️ Highway 45 from Hackett to I-540 and Highway 271
➡️ Highway 45 to Highway 71 via Bear Hollow

Please take your time, increase following distance, and remember… your brakes do not work better just because you believe in them. 🧊🚗

Instead of testing the roads, take your time and build some snowmen, have a snowball fight, sled in the yard, or perfect your “watching snow fall out the window” technique. ☃️🛷

Check on your neighbors, and don’t worry, we’ll be out doing the same. If you need anyone checked on, please contact the Bonanza Police Department at (479) 255-6093.

Stay safe, stay warm, and let Snowmageddon do its thing from a safe distance. ❄️👮‍♂️

Also show us your snowmen, snowball fights and all of your fun outdoor activities below! ⬇️

Citizens of Bonanza,
Winter has decided to stage a dramatic comeback this weekend, complete with icy confetti and surprise snowbanks. Before you hop in your trusty carriage of steel and cupholders, a few survival notes from your friendly neighborhood Bonanza PD:

🔵 Roads may be slick. Translation: Your vehicle might suddenly believe it’s auditioning for a figure-skating show.
🔵 Drive slower than your neighbor shovels (even if they’re fast).
🔵 Keep extra snacks, blankets, and phone chargers in your car. You may not need them, but snacks have never once caused regret.
🔵 Clear your windshield fully. You’re not piloting a submarine through a periscope.
🔵 Stay home if you can. Hot chocolate pairs beautifully with not sliding into a ditch.

We’ll be patrolling, helping, and keeping watch. Last year we had to shut down the hill between The Bonanza Clinic and Bear Hollow RD, let’s avoid going through that again.
Bonanza, stay safe, prepare, stay off the roadways if possible.
And remember: Snow angels belong in yards, not in traffic lanes.

Congratulations to Lt. Robert Crouch on his retirement from the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department. Lt. Crouch started his law enforcement career here at the Bonanza Police in September of 1997 and worked until September of 2001 as the chief when he transferred to the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department. Good luck on your retirement and future endeavors!
