UPDATE #2: Fire crews have worked tirelessly and contained as well as extinguished the fire. Thank you to all the departments and members that showed up to assist our community.

UPDATE: Fire has reignited, Fire crews are on scene.

Fire crews are currently on scene in Bonanza due to a incident that occurred between 5th avenue and Wofford Ridge. The fire was started due to an explosion from tannerite, the fire is now contained and citations have been issued to the individual. Thank you to Bonanza fire, Hackett fire, EMP, White Bluff, Sebastian County Emergency Management, as well as the Arkansas forestry commission.

We are saddened to report that our city pickleball court has recently been damaged.

This court is more than just a place to play it’s a shared space enjoyed not only by our Bonanza community, but by friends and neighbors from surrounding areas as well. It’s a hub for connection, activity, and community spirit.

We are asking for your help. If you have any information regarding the damage, or may have seen anything suspicious, please come forward and contact us. Even the smallest detail could make a difference.

Congratulations to Officer Travis Dickerson for completing the Fort Smith Police Academy! Chief Mike Barber attended the graduation at The Marshal’s Museum and presented Officer Dickerson with his certificate. Officer Dickerson complete the 17 week Academy totaling 742 hours of training.

The Bonanza Police Department sends our deepest condolences and prayers to the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office as well the families and fellow officers affected during this heartbreaking and difficult time.

We honor a deputy who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community. May you rest in peace and God bless your family. We also continue to pray over the Wister Police Department Officer that was injured.
