BOOK REVIEW: E Is for Evidence by Sue Grafton

We’ve reached the letter E in Sue Grafton’s Alphabet Series, and this time private investigator Kinsey Millhone finds herself right in the middle of the mystery!

In E Is for Evidence, Kinsey discovers that someone has deposited money into her bank account and made it look as though she accepted a bribe. Suddenly, her reputation and career are on the line, and she has to figure out who is setting her up and why.

The investigation leads her into a complicated case involving a powerful family, an old fire, hidden secrets, and plenty of people with something to hide.

Our review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

This is a fun change in the series because the case is personal for Kinsey. Instead of simply solving someone else’s mystery, she’s fighting to clear her own name. There are plenty of twists along the way, and the story gives us an even closer look at Kinsey and her past.

If you’ve been reading your way through the alphabet with us, you won’t want to skip E Is for Evidence!

BOOK REVIEW: D Is for Deadbeat by Sue Grafton

We’ve made it to the letter D in Sue Grafton’s Alphabet Series!

In D Is for Deadbeat, private investigator Kinsey Millhone is hired by a less-than-trustworthy client to deliver a $25,000 check to a teenager. It sounds like a simple job, but when her client suddenly turns up dead, Kinsey realizes there is much more to the story.

As she starts digging into his past, she uncovers secrets, complicated relationships, and plenty of people who had reasons to dislike him. The question becomes not only who killed him, but why?

Our review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Another entertaining Kinsey Millhone mystery! This one gives you plenty of suspects to consider and clues to sort through. Kinsey’s determination and dry sense of humor make the investigation even more enjoyable.

If you like mysteries that keep you changing your mind about who might be responsible, D Is for Deadbeat is worth adding to your reading list.

BOOK REVIEW: C Is for Co**se by Sue Grafton

We’re moving on to the letter C in Sue Grafton’s Alphabet Series!

In C Is for Co**se, private investigator Kinsey Millhone meets Bobby Callahan, a young man recovering from a terrible car accident. Bobby is convinced the crash was no accident and believes someone is trying to kill him. The problem is, his injuries have affected his memory, and he can’t remember enough to tell Kinsey who might want him dead or why.

Kinsey takes the case, and what follows is a mystery filled with questions, secrets, and plenty of reasons to keep turning the pages.

Our review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This one has a little different feel from the first two books. The mystery becomes personal for Kinsey, and the added emotion makes it especially hard to put down. If you enjoy mysteries where you’re trying to piece together the clues right along with the investigator, this is a great one!

BOOK REVIEW: B Is for Burglar by Sue Grafton

This is the second book in Sue Grafton’s Alphabet Series and once again follows private investigator Kinsey Millhone. What begins as a seemingly simple job of locating a missing woman quickly turns into something much more complicated.

One of the best parts of this book is Kinsey herself. She’s smart, independent, persistent, and not afraid to keep digging when things don’t add up. The mystery builds as the story goes along, with plenty of suspicious characters and clues to keep you wondering what really happened.

Our review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A great choice for anyone who enjoys old-fashioned detective work, strong female characters, and mysteries with plenty of twists.
