Bondurant Troop 10 had a FUN summer-camp adventure at Many Point Scout Camp in Minnesota.

The troop left at 4am from Bondurant. The weather was perfect all week, only a couple rain showers(and Canada fires smoke rolling in Thursday). The boys and leaders all had a great time together. Happiness was all around!

The boys enjoyed water sports and games(greased watermelon), fishing, a couple enjoyed sailboating, and three practiced snorkeling. As an option there was an overnight on a raft or in a treehouse.

There was plenty of shotgun practice, archery and ax throwing. Crafts were made...such as pottery, weaving, and tie dye. One boy spent his week mountain biking. Other troop activities were rappelling, wall climbing, 9-square, teamwork activities, tieing knots, the sauna, and community service(pulling weeds to help small conifers have room for growth).

We all had to be very cautious about the black bears in the area, which meant absolutely no food or smelly hygiene products inside tents. Two nights a bear was heard in the woods only a few yards away from tents.

Bondurant Troop 10 thanks you for your continuous can & bottle donations! 🙂 The boys and leaders sort through them each month and prepare them to be sent off to a redemption center. The extra funds support our troop so much.

As a reminder, we like to have donations placed inside the blue can & bottle collection site ✅...located down the gravel drive past the Legion Hall at the end of the soccer fields. We try our best to check and make sure it's not overflowing.

Also, please do not place donations around the quansit area across from the legion ❌...the legion asks that they are not left there, and also the bags often get stolen.

*Helpful note...if you donate glass bottles, please try to have them in their own separate bags. When we sort for the redemption center, we cannot have glass mixed with cans and plastic. Glass bottles, often get broken inside bags mixed with plastic or cans, creating a safety hazard. When glass is bagged separately it cuts down on our sorting time too. 👍

Here's a bunch of fun pictures from Camp Mitigwa, Summer 2024. There was 15 youth and 10 adults. It was a hot week most days. Tuesday evening we all had to leave our camp sites and seek shelter during a big storm, we didn't get back to camp until 12:15a.m.

Halfway through the week was family night and the Order of the Arrow call-out ceremony. We had two adults and 3 scouts voted in.

Our boys, plus a couple girls from another troop, won the volleyball tournament. Our troop also got the clean-sweep award for keeping our dining area tidy.

The troop also had a service project we volunteered to do, a patio of blocks in front of the office. Supposedly it was a project the camp thought would take 2-3 weeks with the help of other troops...but our guys got it done in few hours!

It was a FUN-FILLED week with lots of things to do and learn. 🙂

At the beginning of May the troop visited Iowa's first state park, Backbone, located in the valley of the Maquoketa River.

After waiting out a little bit of weather the first morning, it was all fun and games.

The troop hiked a rugged and beautiful trail, visited a cave, hung out by the natural spring fed pool, played lots of games at the campsite, bird-watched and enjoyed plenty of good food.

Congratulations to the newest Troop 10 Scouts. This is when scouting really gets FUN!!!!!!
