Did you know you have seven strategically located fire stations within Bonita Springs' 72 square miles. Each Bonita Springs Fire Station is located with the goal of an average response time of four to six minutes from the moment firefighters are alerted to an emergency. Bonita Springs Fire Station 24 is located near Bonita Beach Road and Bonita Grande Drive. Bonita Springs Firefighters responded to 1260 emergency calls from this fire station in 2025.

It's ! Let's take a trip back to the 1970s, when Bonita Springs looked far out, man!

Back then, Bonita Springs Firefighters were serving the community from Bonita Springs Fire Station #2 off Mango Drive, built in the early '70s. Firefighters were rolling up in Ford C-Series pumpers from the 1960s era and World War II-era Russian military jeeps, modified for brush firefighting.

No GPS. No touchscreen displays. Just good-hearted firefighters, in bellbottoms.

Bonita Springs Fire Station 23 is located near the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce off US-41. Bonita Springs Firefighters responded to 1520 emergency calls from this fire station in 2025.

For Bonita Springs Firefighters, doing the very best for our community means staying informed about emerging technology and continually exploring new ways to protect our firefighters, our community, and the environment we all share.

Today, Bonita Springs Firefighters learned about an innovative firefighting product that could help extinguish fires more efficiently while keeping firefighter safety and environmental protection in mind.

GFFF (Green Firefighting Foam) is an alternative to traditional AFFF foam, which has been widely used in the fire service and is associated with PFAS, a group of chemicals linked to serious health and environmental concerns. GFFF is designed to eliminate these commonly found chemicals while enhancing the effectiveness of water used in firefighting.

Simply put, GFFF makes water work better!

One of its most promising applications is fighting lithium-ion battery fires. These fires can be especially challenging because lithium-ion batteries can continue generating heat and releasing energy even when oxygen is limited. GFFF is designed to improve water's cooling and extinguishing effectiveness, helping firefighters combat certain fires more efficiently than water alone.

Neighbors in the Pueblo Bonito area may see artificial smoke and an increased presence of firefighters throughout the week as firefighters from Bonita Springs and other local agencies participate in acquired structure training in Pueblo Bonito in Bonita Springs.

An acquired structure is a real residential, commercial, or public building obtained by the BSFD's training division (typically, just before it is demolished or remodeled) to conduct realistic hands-on training.

Acquired structures training to be conducted include:
• Hose line stretches, ladder placement, and search-and-rescue drills
• Forcible door entry, wall breaching, and tactical ventilation
• Fire attack, thermal conditions training, and command coordination.

When a Lithium-Ion Battery bubbles, we're all in trouble! Never charge a damaged or bubbling battery. Inspect electronics that use lithium-ion batteries, their cords, and their batteries before each use and before each charging. If the device, battery, or cord is damaged, or if it overheats while charging, immediately stop using the item or cord.
