Apparently Ma Nature may not be done with us yet.

We are tracking the possibilities of accumulating snow mid next week. There are still many uncertainties, but it is a good idea to monitor the forecast and be mindful as you make your plans for next week.

Sometimes we’re called to deal with some pretty sick or injured people that need a fast ride to the hospital. That chariot comes out of the sky and looks an awful lot like a helicopter. Tonight we hosted a joint training session on helicopter operations. Do you know what it takes to land a helicopter safely? Bonner Springs Fire Department invited our neighbors from Edwardsville Fire Department, KCKS Fire Department Bonner Springs Police Department, & Tonganoxie Fire Department to come and join us in learning all the ins and outs of interacting with medical helicopters safely. A representative from Life Star came and refreshed us on their needs and expectations in a classroom session. This classroom training was followed up with a visit from the aircraft itself and the flight crew.

The local blood bank is still feeling the effects of life’s hiccup called a pandemic. The supply is still low and you have what they need. We’re asking again to come and donate. Our community has risen to the occasion each time we have asked and we’re asking again. Please make an appointment and come by. Your donation will go to someone in need that may not live without it!

Thank you to all who stopped by and donated! The Blood drive collected 22 units of blood which exceeded our goals. Thank you for donating and thank you from the recipients of your life saving donations!

We still have errands to run, supper to fix, kids to look after. Whatever needs to be done each day still exists in the midst of a pandemic, but despite the daily grind, others are desperately in need of something we can give them...blood. The Community Blood Center is hosting another Haley Bernard Honorary Blood Drive at our station. Make an appointment, come on by, and donate a pint!
