🔥🚒 Since mid-July, Paradise Valley Fire has been assisting our local Idaho Department of Lands office with initial attack response, providing personnel along with our newly acquired Type 5 engine, E364.

E364 continues that support today and is currently assisting with the new incident shared below.

This is why the continued cooperation between Paradise Valley Fire and our agency partners is so important. Being able to share personnel, equipment, and resources helps all of us better serve and protect our communities during a busy fire season.

(Naples, Idaho) – The Caribou Fire is burning northwest of Naples near Ruby Creek in steep, rocky and forested terrain. The fire is currently estimated at 10 acres and 0% contained. There are no homes or buildings threatened and no evacuations in place at this time.

Approximately 90 personnel are assigned to the fire, and a Type 3 team is managing the incident. Firefighting resources include air attack, a helicopter making bucket drops and scoopers. A large airtanker has also been ordered. An additional 20-person crew is expected to arrive tomorrow.

Crews are working in hot and dry conditions in challenging terrain, and those conditions are expected to continue through the weekend. The Idaho Department of Lands’ Kootenai Valley Forest Protective District has protection responsibility, with the U.S. Forest Service and IDL cooperating on the response.

🔥 Fire Danger is Now EXTREME 🔥

Fire danger has now increased to Extreme, and Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in effect.

With hot, dry conditions, it only takes one spark to start a wildfire. If you’re out enjoying the outdoors, please use extra caution with any recreational activities and follow all current fire restrictions.

⚠️This weekend's weather is creating the kind of conditions that firefighters worry about most.🚨

Hot temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds mean that any new fire can spread rapidly, growing from a small spark into a large wildfire in minutes. These conditions can lead to extreme fire behavior that is difficult—and sometimes impossible—to stop until the weather changes.
At the same time, wildfire activity across Idaho and neighboring states has stretched firefighting resources thin. Many firefighters, engines, aircraft, and support personnel are already committed to large incidents, leaving fewer resources available to respond to new fires.
That makes prevention more important than ever.
This weekend, you can help by:
🔥 Never parking or driving on dry grass.
🔥 Avoid dragging trailer chains.
🔥Skip activities that could create sparks.
🔥 Follow all fire restrictions.
🔥 If you have to have a campfire...Make sure campfires are completely out before leaving.

One preventable wildfire can quickly become tomorrow's headline. Every spark matters, and every Idahoan has a role to play in protecting our communities, firefighters, and natural resources.

🔥 Fire Danger is Now VERY HIGH 🔥

Paradise Valley Fire has received a new fire danger sign, and it couldn’t come at a more important time. Fire danger has now increased to Very High.

Fuels are extremely dry, and we’ve already responded to multiple fires in our area. If you’re out enjoying the summer, please be mindful of anything that could start a fire and report any signs of smoke or suspicious fire activity as soon as possible.

🚒 Last Saturday, Paradise Valley firefighters had the opportunity to train with an instructor on the basics of vehicle extrication.

The training covered scene size-up, cribbing and stabilization, glass management, door removal, and extricating a simulated patient. It was a great opportunity to learn new techniques, reinforce the fundamentals, and see different ways to accomplish the same objective.

Due to the active fires throughout Boundary County, turnout was lighter than usual as many of our members were deployed assisting on incidents. The ongoing fire activity also limited participation from neighboring departments, but we were glad to have one firefighter from South Boundary Fire join us for the training.

If we don’t continuously train, we lose the knowledge and skills we’ve worked hard to gain. Thank you to everyone who took the time to continue learning and sharpening their abilities

🚨 National Preparedness Level 5 🚨

The nation has now reached Preparedness Level 5, the highest level of national wildfire readiness. This means firefighting resources are stretched thin as multiple large fires continue to burn across the country.

As fire season continues here at home, we ask everyone to do their part to help prevent new fires. One less human-caused fire means more resources available where they’re needed most.

🚒🔥 This week, Brush 364 has been assisting the Idaho Department of Lands with personnel and equipment as fire activity continues across Boundary County.

After two fires started late yesterday afternoon, the crew responded to the Dusty Fire before being reassigned to the Turner Fire. Since then, they have been running on very little sleep and continue to support suppression efforts. Tonight, they are assigned to night operations, helping wherever they are needed.

Please keep those who have been forced to evacuate their homes in your thoughts, along with our firefighters and the many crews from across the region assisting here in Boundary County. Many have been working long hours with little rest, all with the shared goal of protecting lives, homes, and our community.

🔥 Fire Danger is Now HIGH 🔥

Effective today, fire danger has been raised to High.

As a result, all active burn permits will expire on the 15th, and IDL will no longer be issuing burn permits.

If you have questions regarding burn restrictions or permits, please contact the local IDL office at (208) 267-5577.

With hot, dry conditions, it only takes one spark to start a wildfire. Please do your part to help prevent wildfires in our area by using extra caution with anything that could cause an ignition.

🚒 Last Thursday, Paradise Valley firefighters trained with our new rope rescue equipment, focusing on low-angle rescue techniques.

If we don’t continuously train, we lose the knowledge we’ve gained. Thank you to our volunteers for continuing to dedicate their time to learning and improving their skills. 🚒
