We’re excited to announce that Maggie Dawson will be teaching two powerful sessions on Employing a Victim-Centered Approach to Combating Human Trafficking, presented by TAT (Truckers Against Trafficking).

👩‍🏫 Session One
Gain critical insight into the scope of human trafficking—the world’s second most profitable criminal enterprise. Learn the tactics traffickers use, the populations most vulnerable, and key indicators law enforcement may encounter on the job. Maggie will highlight the importance of a victim-centered approach and share case studies, on-demand training modules, and TAT’s free e-toolkit to support your agency.

Dive deeper with an exploration of the differences between labor exploitation and labor trafficking. This session will cover TAT resources for law enforcement, probation, and school resource officers; the challenges of identifying victims; and the barriers survivors face after exiting exploitation.

🌟 Meet Rebecca Travis, IJJA Treasurer! 🌟

Rebecca has dedicated the past 23 years to serving Ada County Juvenile Services as a Juvenile Probation Officer, Detention Officer, and Community Service Crew Leader. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with substance use disorder and mental health professionals, as well as community organizations, to support juveniles, families, and the community as a whole. She also holds an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Boise State University. 💙💛

When she’s not serving her community, Rebecca enjoys life at home with her husband, three children, and quite the animal crew—7 tortoises, 4 dogs, 2 cats, a bearded dragon, and a leopard gecko! 🐢🐾 In her free time, you’ll find her fishing, traveling, drinking coffee, reading, or scrapbooking.
