We have prayed all year for rain. We've been frantically fighting fires all over the region. We've been discouraged, doubtful, and desperate. But in the end, the Lord hears our prayers, and today, we pray again to say "Thank you God for the rain!"

"But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me." -Psalm 66:19-20

We are responding, along with multiple other departments, to reports of a large grass fire near highways 83 and 23.

The Lipscomb County burn ban has been extended for an additional 90 days. All outdoor burning is prohibited.

Lipscomb County Commissioners voted today to extend the county-wide burn ban for an additional 90 days.

We are currently on scene at a grass fire 1 mile north of Booker. Town Of Darrouzett Volunteer Fire Department, Beaver OK Volunteer Fire Department , Elmwood Fire , DPS, Lipscomb County Sheriff's Office, and Booker EMS are on scene as well.

Lipscomb County officials, along with leaders from all Lipscomb County Fire Departments met with members of Texas A&M Forest Service and Texas Division of Emergency Management to conduct tabletop simulations of wildfires in our area. These exercises are valuable to all departments for establishing plans and procedures for mutual cooperation.

Most of Lipscomb County (outside of Booker) is without power. Xcel says there is a problem at the substation in Booker and they are en-route to determine the problem and make repairs.

A friendly reminder:

Violating a burn ban in Texas is generally a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $500. However, if the fire causes property damage or injury, charges can be upgraded to more serious offenses, including Class A or B misdemeanors, resulting in up to $4,000 in fines and/or one year in jail.

Multiple fires, caused by lightning are being fought around our area this evening. We are currently assisting Beaver County. Pray for rain!
