Bad week for the crew chiefs here in C Co, SGT Derek Tyler had his last flight yesterday, but a loss for the crew chiefs is a win for C Co as SGT Tyler has also been selected for flight school and along with SSG Joe Begnoche will be attending WOCs here in the state. While the road to becoming an Army Aviator is a long one, SGT Tyler is well down the path and the next time he is flying in a Black Hawk, it'll be in the front seat.

Yesterday was a significant day for one of our members. SSG Joe Begnoche had his last flight as a Crewchief. We honored his story as we always do, with handshakes, hugs, and fair amount of water. While this is the end of SSG Begnoche's crewchief career, it marks the beginning of his Pilot career. SSG Begnoche has been selected to become a Warrant Officer and soon after a Pilot in the Iowa National Guard, and we're all pretty excited about it.

The best time to start your career in Army Aviation is always today, and if you got questions, we have answers. The Aviation Symposium is the place to find out more about the pathway that would lead you to operating a multi-million dollar aircraft, 10 feet above the trees, at 80 mph in complete darkness. If you think you have what it takes and the desire to fly, register for the 2026 Aviation Symposium and come fly with us.

On the 6th of Feb the Command Chief Warrant Officer for the State of Iowa put on a Warrant Officer Professional Development, where all the Warrant Officers in the Iowa Army National Guard gathered at the State Capitol Build for a tour. Our guides were the elected Senators and Congress people for the State.

This was a first time for many of the Warrant Officers and a life long memory. A once in a life time opportunity was extended to us and several Warrant Officers climbed many flights of steep cramped steps to the very top and stepped onto the cat walk that is above the golden dome looking out across the Des Moines Metro.

For those of you not in the know, our long lost CW2 Dillon Kelley, has returned home from his tour in CENTCOM at Erbil, Iraq. Mr Kelley was serving as the AMSO for the 2nd BCT, while in that role he has not been able to fly, we look forward to the end of his terminal leave and getting him back in the cockpit and into the air. Welcome home Mr. Kelley, we're grateful to have you back.

Ladies and gentlemen Day 7, completed on Friday, is the successful end to our first quarterly drill for FY 26. It was a bit of a wierd one, with all the aircrews absent for the State Safety Standdown in February, only Echo and Delta detachments were in attendance. While throughly worn out after 7 days of Drill, that indepth maintenance was still conducted and excellent training was had by all. What a great opportunity for the members of Charlie Company to get deep into skills that are otherwise regulated to Annual Training, and you can tell by the smiling faces that even though this Drill was a long one, we're all having a great time.

Photo credit goes to SGT Destinae Latham. Thank you for the excellent pictures.

Day 6 has come and gone, the Warrant Officers were split training this day for Warrant Officer Professional Development in February, leaving the rest of the Company still going strong. A little seen aspect, every day of Drill a group of Soldiers gathers 2 hours prior to our show time and conduct group PT, lead by SSG Mitch Ostrom, these Soldiers sweat it out and improve thier physical fitness together.

Many Charlie Company Soldier's made the Company proud today when they briefed not only the Adjuant General of Iowa, MG Osborn, but also the Commander of Kosovo's Security Forces, LTG Jashari. It was an exciting day for all involved and we got to showcase the outstanding Professionals that we have in our organization.
