FUN FACT FRIDAY

Write-in votes don't count if you don't fill the oval in front of the name.

* Mark the oval: With optical scan ballots, you must fill in the oval next to the write-in line for your vote to be counted. Simply writing a name is not enough.

* Candidate name: It is recommended to write the candidate's name as clearly and accurately as possible. Iowa election rules specify that "write-in votes for fictitious characters shall be tabulated as written," which could include votes for an illegible name.
