🚨 CLARIFICATION ON OUR HIRING POST 🚨

Due to the international attention our previous post has received, we want to clarify that Boone Fire is hiring for Firefighter/EMT.

The wildland, rescue, water rescue, HazMat, and deployment opportunities mentioned are additional experiences and specialty opportunities available to our firefighters while serving in their primary role as Firefighter/EMTs.

Our goal is to provide our personnel with opportunities for growth, training, and real-world experience across multiple disciplines within the fire service.

We are proud to serve a diverse community and equally proud of the opportunities our firefighters have to expand their skills through:
🔥 Fire Response
🌲 Wildland Response
🌊 Water Rescue
🛠 Heavy Rescue
☣️ HazMat
🚑 EMS & Medical Response
…and more.

Thank you to everyone who has shown interest in Boone Fire and the opportunities our department is building.

⚠️ Burn Ban in Effect for the Town of Boone ⚠️

Due to current fire conditions, the North Carolina Forest Service issued a burn ban for Watauga County beginning March 28. In coordination with the Watauga County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Town of Boone has issued a local burn ban effective April 15 at 5:00 PM.

All open burning is prohibited, including the burning of leaves, branches, and other plant material, as well as recreational or campfires. This applies regardless of whether a permit was previously issued. The Town of Boone’s burn ban will remain in effect until the North Carolina Forest Service lifts its statewide restriction.

For additional information, please contact the Town of Boone Fire Department at (828) 268-6180. Please help keep our community safe by complying with this order.

We recently introduced you to our new Town Logo, an identity you will see prominently throughout the Town of Boone. Now, we are excited to share another important element of our brand: the Heritage Seal.

Prior to this new branding effort, the Town of Boone has not, at least in modern history, used an official seal to distinguish important proclamations. That is why incorporating a Heritage Seal was such a meaningful addition to our brand.

This seal features one of Boone’s most iconic views from Howard's K**b, with a figure standing on a rock overlooking the mountain range we call home. The imagery reflects our history, echoing those who once stood in this same place looking out over the vast wilderness that would become the Town of Boone. It also evokes a sense of adventure and new beginnings.

As the Boone Town Council recently adopted Boone Next: Our Town, Our Future, a guiding document that establishes a shared vision for growth, development, and community goals, the Heritage Seal connects our past, present, and future in a meaningful way.

It is also important to understand when and how this seal will be used. You will see it on official proclamations adopted by the Boone Town Council, as well as during emergency announcements and important public safety messages. In moments that matter most, having a clear and recognizable symbol helps ensure critical, life saving information is easy to identify and trust. This became especially clear in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

As we mentioned earlier this week, we will continue showcasing additional elements of our new municipal brand in the days ahead, so stay tuned as we introduce the next piece, our Story Badges.
