As time permits, on top of other duties, our officers voluntarily serve on non-profit boards, coach sports, attend meetings, and help in all kinds of other ways in the community and in their OWN neighborhoods. 🤝
One example is, local raised, Admin Sgt Dennis O’Neal, who serves on the board of Hunger & Health Coalition, Inc. (The guy in the back wearing sunglasses that looks like a cop 😅)
And today, he was a part of the ribbon cutting to their newly renovated building where they can expand their services.

This advice we have given in previous years still holds its weight:
To the 2026 Graduating Class of Watauga High School, the Boone Police Department would like to give you the following words of wisdom as you depart the world of Pioneers and enter this season of your college years:
1. The "Freshman 15" is a real condition. Easy on the late night Taco Bell.
2. Never be the one to yell, "Hey y'all, watch this!". We don't want to see that video in court.
3. Do an extensive meet and greet with your potential roommate. You don't want to wake up to them just sitting and staring at you like a child in a creepy horror film.😶
4. You will walk into a pole at least one time while staring at your cell phone. Embrace the moment. No one will even notice. They will be too busy watching TIK TOK videos of others doing the same.
5. ALWAYS Tip your pizza delivery guy. They WILL remember...No one wants a surprise "vegetable" under their cheese 🤢
6. If you end up being a Criminal Justice major, please don't let that be the first words out of your mouth if you get pulled over for running a red light 🤐😅
7. You will realize that, out of ALL the things you really needed to learn in the past 12 years, the most important ones were learned in Kindergarten (Keep your hands to yourself, don't interrupt, be kind, wash your hands, go to the bathroom before recess, share, don't put unknown substances in your mouth, etc.).
AND finally, ENJOY life. LIVE in the present. LEARN to laugh at yourself. Time will pass by and the next thing you know, you are watching your own child walk across that stage 😉
We are proud of you. CONGRATULATIONS!

🚨PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

Allyuh know tomorrow is National Donut Day?

Now, ah not saying de Town of Boone Police Department have a donut addiction…

But ah not not saying it either. 😂🚓🍩

As responsible citizens, it is our civic duty to help support de officers by ensuring an adequate supply of emergency pastries.

Fortunately, we have two excellent local suppliers:
🍩 Local Lion
🍩 Ambrosia Bakes

And honestly…why settle for one when yuh could do a proper donut patrol and visit both?

Coming up de mountain tomorrow? Bring some of dem fancy “off d’mountain” donuts too. We believe in mutual aid. Everybody should have access to quality donuts.

Remember:
A donut in de hand is worth two in de evidence locker.

Let’s glaze over our differences.
Let’s sprinkle kindness.
Let’s hole-heartedly support our local law enforcement.

Stay safe.
Drive carefully.
And if yuh get pulled over carrying a dozen donuts…

🎵“He even played Taylor Swift for me” 🎵
Mary Ballard, one of our CPA grads, did her first ride along with Officer Caleb Roten. It was his first time having one, so he was trying to make a good impression. Taylor Swift it was ;)
“It was a great experience and I look forward to doing it again at some point in the future. Thanks a bunch to officer Caleb for an educational evening.”
