A great turnout and perfect weather made for a wonderful June Business After Hours! 🎓☀️ We gathered at The Courtyard at Sanford Commons on App State's campus, hosted by App State Conference & Event Services. Attendees enjoyed an outdoor reception with food and drinks and got a firsthand look at what's available right here in Boone for your next meeting, retreat, or gathering.

Know Your Neighbor returns this week to highlight Boone's hometown team: Boone Bigfoots ! 🫈⚾️

The Boone Bigfoots are proud to bring exciting summer baseball and family-friendly entertainment to the High Country! Playing all home games at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium, the team is dedicated to providing competitive baseball while supporting local community and athletics.

Proceeds from Bigfoot's games help benefit Appalachian State University Athletics, making every ticket purchase an investment in the community.

Earlier this month, the Hunger & Health Coalition welcomed Lindsey Sullivan as the organization's new Executive Director.

Lindsey is no stranger to the non-profit scene in Watauga County, having served as Health Strategist at AppHealthCare, where, among other projects, she was a lead voice in the creation of STABLE Workplaces.

On this week's Mind Your Business, we catch up with Lindsey at the ribbon-cutting for the newly renovated home of Hunger and Health Coalition, a space that connects their footprint to the Community Care Clinic, following a merger of the two organizations in 2025.

After the event, we sat down to discuss leading through transition, the value of listening in the early days of a new role, and how prior knowledge of a business can accelerate opportunity for growth.

Our staff and Board of Directors gathered at The Inn at Crestwood Restaurant and Event Space this past week for our annual retreat, a full day reviewing budget, strategy, and the road ahead.

One year into the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, 22 of 35 goals are already completed or actively underway across all five focus areas: Operational Excellence, Community, Connect, Advocate, and Educate. The board was also joined by Steve Marks, Executive Director of Watauga LTRG, for a guest presentation.

A sincere thank you to board member Danielle Neibaur and The Inn at Crestwood for hosting! That floor-to-ceiling mountain view was a must during a meeting like this 🏔️
