Hey folks, mark your calendars for a great dinner for a great cause!

The Stratford firefighters grill up a serious steak sandwich but this fundraiser hits a little different and much closer to home. This fundraiser is to support a family that sacrifices not just to protect Stratford but also right here in Boone.

Tanner has served as a part-time Firefighter/EMT with the Boone Fire Department since 2018 having answered hundreds of calls for help right here in Boone. Like any firefighter, it can't be done without a strong family at home.

It's time to show the Stratford Fire Department and the Jensen's just how grateful we are! Mark your calendars and let's see if we can clean them out and send them home early!

As always, thank you for your support!

**STRUCTURE FIRE**

At approximately 4:17PM this afternoon, the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 1775 140th St. for a hay barn on fire. Chief 8-60, Engine 8-65 and Engine 8-61 responded with 5 firefighters and requested an all-call to bring in off-duty firefighters to assist. While responding, a large column of smoke could be seen in the area. Stratford, Stanhope and Story City Fire Departments were requested to assist with tankers and manpower. The on-duty crew arrived approximately 13 minutes after the 911 call was placed, finding a hay barn fully involved and partially collapsed. Tanker 8-63 and Rescue 8-67 arrived approximately 6 minutes later with 3 additional firefighters. There were no other structures immediately at risk. Mutual aid departments were cancelled.

Engine 8-65 immediately deployed 2 handlines and knocked down the main fire within 8 minutes of arrival. Incident Command spoke with the property owner and it was decided that as the structure was a complete loss along with any of the contents of the building, the remaining debris would be allowed to burn. Firefighters worked to move metal siding and roof panels to allow the fire to burn freely. There were no injuries reported during the incident and the fire was left burning with the property owner monitoring it.

The Boone Fire Department was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center, Boone County Sheriff's Office and the Boone County Ambulance.

**CAMPER FIRE**

At approximately 11:31PM last night, the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 393 Nature Rd. for a camper on fire. Engine 8-65 and Engine 8-61 responded with 3 firefighters and requested a callback for 2 to cover the station. The on-duty crew arrived approximately 11 minutes after the 911 call was placed, finding a camper fully involved and beginning to spread to a nearby residence.

Engine 8-65 crew deployed a handline and began working to cool the residence and bring the camper fire under control. The main body of the fire was extinguished within approximately 9 minutes of arrival. Crews remained on scene for just over an hour working to extinguish hot spots and ensuring that there was no further risk to the residence. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Boone Fire Department was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center, Boone County Sheriff's Office and the Boone County Ambulance.

**STRUCTURE FIRE**

At approximately 10:15PM last night, the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 1875 270th St. for a house on fire. Engine 8-65 and Engine 8-61 responded with 4 firefighters and requested an all-call. Tanker 8-63, Rescue 8-67 and Chief 8-60 responded with 7 additional firefighters. The on-duty crew arrived approximately 15 minutes after the 911 call was placed with callback crews arriving approximately 8 minutes later, delayed due to the rural location and distance from the firehouse.

Engine 8-65 arrived finding light smoke coming from the attic vents in the roof. A hoseline was deployed into the home and a fire was found burning in the attic space. The fire was quickly brought under control as crews began working to check for extension, ensuring that the fire was completely out. Firefighters continued working on scene for approximately 1 hour. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters during the incident. The cause of the fire was found to be a lightning strike to the home.

The Boone Fire Department was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center, Madrid Police Department, Boone County Sheriff's Office, Boone County Ambulance and Boone County Emergency Management.

**2 STRUCTURE FIRES**

At approximately 6:04AM today, the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 1285 T Ave. for an outbuilding on fire. Engine 8-65 and Engine 8-61 responded with 4 firefighters and requested an all-call as a column of smoke could already be seen from the City. Tanker 8-63, Rescue 8-67 and Chief 8-60 responded with 5 additional firefighters. The on-duty crew arrived approximately 12 minutes after the 911 call was placed with callback crews arriving approximately 11 minutes later.

The on-duty crew arrived to find an outbuilding fully involved, already having spread to another nearby structure. The crew deployed handlines to protect surrounding buildings and other exposures before working to extinguish the main body of fire. Due to the fire being rural with no hydrants nearby, tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene to support extinguishment efforts. Unfortunately, due to how far the fire had advanced prior to 911 being notified, the outbuilding and second structure were a complete loss. Crews remained on scene for approximately 2.5 hours. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, however, a goat remains unaccounted for. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Boone Fire Department was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center, Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Boone County Ambulance.

Earlier in the shift at approximately 5:56PM, the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 1523 14th St. for a stack of pallets on fire. Engine 8-65 and Attack 8-68 responded with 4 firefighters and while going en route, were updated that the nearby garage was also on fire.

Engine 8-65 arrived on scene finding a stack of pallets burning in the back of a property and fire burning up the outside of a garage. The on-duty crew deployed handlines to extinguish the fire and prevent further extension into the garage. Crews remained on scene for approximately 45 minutes ensuring that the fire was fully extinguished. A callback for 2 was paged early in the incident to bring in off-duty firefighters to cover additional calls while the on-duty crew remained on scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Boone Fire Department was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center and Boone Police Department.
