**2 STRUCTURE FIRES**
At approximately 6:04AM today, the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 1285 T Ave. for an outbuilding on fire. Engine 8-65 and Engine 8-61 responded with 4 firefighters and requested an all-call as a column of smoke could already be seen from the City. Tanker 8-63, Rescue 8-67 and Chief 8-60 responded with 5 additional firefighters. The on-duty crew arrived approximately 12 minutes after the 911 call was placed with callback crews arriving approximately 11 minutes later.
The on-duty crew arrived to find an outbuilding fully involved, already having spread to another nearby structure. The crew deployed handlines to protect surrounding buildings and other exposures before working to extinguish the main body of fire. Due to the fire being rural with no hydrants nearby, tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene to support extinguishment efforts. Unfortunately, due to how far the fire had advanced prior to 911 being notified, the outbuilding and second structure were a complete loss. Crews remained on scene for approximately 2.5 hours. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, however, a goat remains unaccounted for. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Boone Fire Department was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center, Boone County Sheriff’s Office and the Boone County Ambulance.
Earlier in the shift at approximately 5:56PM, the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 1523 14th St. for a stack of pallets on fire. Engine 8-65 and Attack 8-68 responded with 4 firefighters and while going en route, were updated that the nearby garage was also on fire.
Engine 8-65 arrived on scene finding a stack of pallets burning in the back of a property and fire burning up the outside of a garage. The on-duty crew deployed handlines to extinguish the fire and prevent further extension into the garage. Crews remained on scene for approximately 45 minutes ensuring that the fire was fully extinguished. A callback for 2 was paged early in the incident to bring in off-duty firefighters to cover additional calls while the on-duty crew remained on scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Boone Fire Department was assisted by the Boone County Communications Center and Boone Police Department.
