Looking for family fun? Check out Newburgh Splash Pad.

The Town of Newburgh is celebrating a major milestone this week as the Newburgh Splash Pad at Lou Dennis Community Park marks its fifth anniversary.

Since opening in June 2021, the Splash Pad has become one of the community's most popular summer destinations, welcoming thousands of families each year and serving as the centerpiece of a park that continues to evolve through community partnerships, grants, and local support.

To commemorate the occasion, the Town is hosting an Aloha-themed 5th Birthday Celebration on Friday, June 5, featuring family-friendly activities, games, prizes, treats, and free donuts in honor of National Donut Day.

Visitors attending Friday's celebration will have the opportunity to view concept renderings, learn more about the project, and see construction progress firsthand.

A couple of rounds of strong-to-severe storms are possible today. The first round will be around sunrise this morning, with the severe threat between 7-11 am. The second round will depend on the timing of the first. If the first round slows down, it may just re-intensify as it shifts south through the area. If it moves through quickly, the atmosphere may become sufficiently unstable for more robust storms this afternoon. If the second round does materialize, then wind damage may become more widespread, and the hail may be a bit larger. Stay tuned for updates!
