📱🚨 TEXT-TO-911 IS NOW AVAILABLE IN COOPER COUNTY 🚨📱

Cooper County Joint Communications is proud to announce that residents and visitors can now text 911 in an emergency when calling is not possible.

If you need emergency assistance and cannot safely speak, you can send a text message directly to 911 dispatchers.

⚠️ Remember the national best practice from NENA:
“Call if you can, text if you can’t.”

A voice call to 911 is still the fastest and most effective way to get help. Text-to-911 should only be used when:
• You are unable to speak safely
• You are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability
• A medical emergency prevents speaking
• Speaking would put you in danger

📌 Important Tips for Text-to-911:
• Enter the numbers “911” in the recipient field
• Include your exact location first
• Be brief, clear, and concise
• Do not use slang, abbreviations, emojis, or group texts
• Stay with your phone and answer all questions from the dispatcher

Examples:
✅ “123 Main St, house fire”
✅ “Highway 87 near Walmart, injury crash”
✅ “Domestic assault, cannot speak safely”

Please remember:
❌ Do not text and drive
❌ Do not send photos, videos, or GIFs
❌ Text-to-911 may not be available in all areas if you travel outside Cooper County

Cooper County Joint Communications remains committed to improving emergency communications and providing accessible ways for the public to reach help when they need it most.

📞 In an emergency: Call if you can. Text if you can’t.

🌷💛 Happy Mother’s Day 💛🌷

Today, we celebrate all of the amazing moms, grandmas, stepmoms, bonus moms, pet moms, and mother figures who keep our families, communities, and first responders going strong every single day.

Very special shoutout to our CCJC dispatch mommas- the ones balancing chaos at work and at home, answering the call no matter the hour, and still showing up with strength, compassion, and heart every single day. We see you, and we appreciate everything you do. 💛

A special thank you to all the mothers working behind the headset, in uniform, on the ambulances, at the stations, and supporting loved ones from home. Public safety never stops- and neither do moms. ❤️🚔🚒🚑🎧

Whether you’re spending today surrounded by family, working a shift, or remembering a loved one, we hope you know how appreciated you are.

From all of us at Cooper County Joint Communications, Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸💐

CCJC works closely with Cooper County Emergency Management any time sirens are set off.
Please know that decisions like this are made with one priority in mind: public safety. We would rather provide an early warning and have it not develop than delay notification during a rapidly changing situation.

And that’s a wrap!
We finished NPSTW with a bang.

Thank you, again to everyone that helped make this possible for our team.
MU-3 - Sedalia, MO delivered us a good basket.
Prairie Home Rural Fire Protection District delivered homemade baked goods yesterday- which were DELICIOUS!

We partied, we laughed, we ate, we gifted, we missed our staff that were unable to attend, and we recognized our amazing staff for their hard work and dedication in 2025!

Stay tuned for our outstanding performance awards winners next!

As NPSTW wraps up, we thought we’d introduce you to the cartoon versions of your CCJC team.
Don’t worry - the real ones are just as hardworking… maybe *slightly* less dramatic. 😉
Say hello to the voices behind the headset at CCJC, and help me in giving them one last round of recognition as their week closes out!

I am so proud of this team and how far they have all come. This week has been full of chaos and fun, and tonight we wrap it up with our CCJC NPSTW Awards, gifts from the Director, and a Pasta Party!

🎨 CCJC Painting Showdown! 🎨

Things are getting creative at Cooper County Joint Communications this week!

Some of our team is putting their artistic skills to the test in a friendly painting competition - and let’s just say… dispatchers might be better at handling emergencies than paintbrushes 👀🎨

Each dispatcher brought their own style, strategy, and a little competitive spirit to the table and painted out logo. Now we need YOUR help!

🖌️ Vote for your favorite painting by reacting to the photo:
👍 ❤️ 😆 😮

The piece with the most reactions wins bragging rights and extra tickets for our raffle drawing tonight!
