Good Morning,

Last week, some of you may have noticed a box on the telephone pole at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and High Street. This box is a new piece of equipment called the Watchdog Radar. It is a radar system designed for informational purposes only and does not record license plates, vehicle descriptions, or any other identifying information.

The device tracks the number of vehicles and their speeds. This data will allow the police department to provide better information to the community and help us determine when to enforce traffic regulations on the roads.

I was surprised by the volume of traffic and concerned about the highest speed recorded.

On the evening of May 30, 2026, if you were driving through Boothbay Harbor after 8 PM, you might have noticed an increased police presence. This was because the Boothbay Harbor Police Department proudly joined the Regional Impaired Driving Enforcement team (RIDE), collaborating with various agencies from District 6, which includes Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, and Waldo Counties.
Our local heroes from Rockland PD, Belfast PD, Sagadahoc County SO, Knox County SO, and Lincoln County SO came together for this important mission last night.
In case you’re curious, these agencies can operate together under Title 30-A, Section 2674, which enables collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
The RIDE team was busy during a six-hour operation, completing around 50 traffic stops and leading to two arrests for Operating Under the Influence. We’re grateful for the community’s support as we work together to ensure a safer environment for everyone!

FOUND TOOLS. A call was received this morning about found property. Apparently, a gray or white truck carrying a ladder and tools lost some tools while turning onto Western Ave from Lakeview. We are trying to return the tools to their rightful owner.
Please contact the PD at 207-633-5616.
