Please join me in prayer for the Caldwell County Constable's office PCT. 3, family, and friends of Deputy Aaron Armstrong.

KVUE CBS AUSTIN, Texas — Police have arrested a suspect after an off-duty deputy with the Caldwell County Precinct 3 Constable's Office was shot and killed in North Austin on Sunday morning.

The incident happened at Club Rodeo at 9515 N. Lamar Blvd., near West Rundberg Lane, just after 2 a.m. The Caldwell County Constable's Office said the deputy, later identified as Aaron Armstrong, was working a security position at the establishment. Armstrong had been with the constable's office since October 2024.

According to the Austin Police Department, when officers arrived on the scene, they found Armstrong injured in the parking lot. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The suspect was arrested at around 3:45 p.m. Sunday by the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from APD Air Support, the K9 unit and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Police did not immediately reveal the identity of the suspect

Praying for this Deputy today. This deputy was out serving a Writ of possession when he was tragically shot. The deputy survived and is recovering but this is a reminder that even going up to serve a paper to someone can put our lives on the line. You need to stand with your Constables in your counties and support the work they are doing for your communities.

Earlier tonight, a Bexar County Deputy Constable was shot while serving an eviction notice. Thanks to wearing body armor, the Deputy is recovering safely.

This is the reality of law enforcement, routine calls can turn violent without warning. TMPA stands with this Deputy, his family, and every officer who continues to serve despite the danger.
