Watermaster Open House: Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 1 to 3pm (IN-PERSON at the Borrego Springs Library and held virtually via Go-To Meeting) *note: the Watermaster Board Meeting will begin at 4pm

The Watermaster is preparing its 5-Year Assessment of the Groundwater Management Plan (GMP), which will include updates to Sustainable Management Criteria (SMC) for groundwater levels, groundwater storage, and groundwater quality, among others. Updates to the SMCs will consider stakeholder outreach. We invite you to attend the Stakeholder Open House to learn more and provide feedback!

Presentations and Q&A Sessions will be given on the following topics (to learn more about each topic, click on the links below):

1:00 – 1:30 pm: Overview of Sustainable Management Critera (SMC)
1:30 – 2:00 pm: SMC for Groundwater Level
2:00 -2:30 pm: SMC for Groundwater in Storage
2:30 – 3:00 pm: SMC for Groundwater Quality

‼️🚨‼️🚨‼️Two BWD fire hydrants were stolen from the Borrego Springs Resort area last night. Replacing the hydrants will cost us, but the temporary loss of fire protection in the vicinity is a serious concern. The Sheriff has been contacted and if anyone sees non-BWD personnel working on or near hydrants OR see the stolen hydrants anywhere, please contact the Sheriff NON EMERGENCY number at (760) 767-5656.

On July 23, 2025, the Borrego Water District was made aware of concerns expressed by customers regarding the possibility of mold in the water supply due to the presence of discolorations and sediment in a few toilet bowl and tanks. Following the required Chain of Custody procedures, BWD collected water samples and delivered them to the Laboratory for testing of bacteria, mold, and yeast.
Bacteria tests were received shortly after the samples were submitted and the results were NEGATIVE. Mold and yeast testing takes longer, and these results were just received. The mold/yeast samples were less than 1% CFU/g (Colony-Forming Units per gallon of water). BWD customers can rest assured that our water is safe to drink.
The lab results, along with the other testing, are available to the public at the Administration Office located at 806 Palm Canyon Drive or by calling the office at 760-767-5806. Copies of the Annual Consumer Confidence Report are also available at the office or on the BWD website at https://borregowd.org/wp-content/uploads/BWD-CCR-2024.pdf.
