Today we joined Nicholas Coy as he presented his Capstone Project for the Criminal Justice Program at Colby Sawyer College.

We have had the privilege of hosting Nicholas as an intern with our Office, which was managed by Ian Coughlin, our Communications Supervisor. While interning, Nicholas was able to see the other side of the radio through our Emergency Communications Division. He was able to ride along with deputies, see some of the intricacies of managing an emergency communications center, and spent time with the Central New Hampshire Special Operations Unit, seeing how they train and operate and what role a Tactical Dispatcher plays in the team's operations.

Nicholas' Capstone Project was a study focused on the uniforms that law enforcement officers wear and how they affect community relations and the interactions officers have with members of the public. His project showed that attention to detail is vitally important to Law Enforcement actions, and how an officer presents themselves can have a significant effect on their interactions. Details that others may pass off as unimportant were proven to change how a member of the public perceives the officer they are communicating with, or considering communicating with. We want to congratulate Nicholas on his excellent work and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Today marked the completion of the L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence) program with the Danbury Elementary School 5th grade class. Over the past 10 weeks, these students have worked hard learning about making good decisions, setting goals, resisting peer pressure, and building strong character.

This is Deputy Abdulkadir’s second year teaching at Danbury Elementary.

We would like to congratulate Deputy Alek Ladd, who has been promoted to Sergeant. He is now the Sergeant for the Civil Division at the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office.

The civil division enforces court orders, executes evictions, serves legal documents and much more.

We are grateful for the time Sergeant Ladd has been with us and are eager to see what is in store for the future.

If you see Sergeant Ladd, make sure to congratulate him!
