Class 36 – Week 13

One week closer to the finish line!

Class 36 wrapped up trauma this week and is moving on to medical as we continue through EMT. Each week brings them one step closer to completing the academy!

We also changed up the scenery for PT and hit the trails this week. A little fresh air and different terrain made for a great change of pace.

Class 36 - Week 12

Another week of EMT is in the books! We dove deep into patient assessment and airway management this week. This is the foundation of emergency medical care!

We also had the opportunity to step outside the classroom welcoming kids back to school for their first day! Community involvement is an important part of being a public servant. It’s about being present, building relationships, and serving the community every chance we get.

Class 36 – Week 11

The first week of EMT is officially in the books!

This week the recruits covered a tremendous amount of material, including anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, and many of the foundational concepts they’ll build on throughout the EMT portion of the academy.

To wrap up the week, the recruits had the opportunity to ride out on our ambulances, giving them a firsthand look at how the knowledge they’re learning in the classroom is applied to real-world patient care.

Class 36 – Week 10

Driver/Operator is complete! ✔️

These 10 weeks have flown by, and with that, we’ve officially wrapped up the fire side of the academy. The recruits have come a long way since Week 1, and it’s been incredible to watch their growth.

Next up… EMT! 🚑 Time to build the medical knowledge and patient care skills that are just as essential to becoming a well-rounded firefighter.

Class 36 – Week 9

This week, our recruits got hands-on experience with vehicle extrication. A huge thank you to the B-Shift Complex Crew for taking the time to share their knowledge and experience with the next generation of firefighters.

We’re also proud to announce that the recruits have successfully passed their IFSAC Firefighter II Certification! This is another major milestone in their journey and a testament to the hard work and dedication they’ve shown throughout the academy.

Next stop: Driver/Operator! 🚒💪

Class 36 - Week 8

This week the recruits have successfully passed their firefighter 1 certification exam! This is a huge accomplishment putting them one step closer to becoming professional firefighters!

Short week wrapping up firefighter 1! We learned that dark, confined spaces are not for everyone… But with the proper training and practice we can do hard things!
