Only 2.5% of U.S. adults become foster parents. Of that number, 50% will quit after their first year.

Why? Lack of support.

We need foster parents, and foster parents need to know they're not alone.

In the time it takes to:

listen to a song
make a cup of coffee
check the mail
.. a child enters foster care.

In order to keep children from entering foster care, we have to start with our communities. Healthy communities encourage healthy families.

For children in foster care, home is the goal.

Whether it's through reunification through healed family relationships or through adoption, permanency is the ultimate outcome.

For children currently in foster care, there are many questions as they live through a time of instability. You can help provide hope for a child by getting involved at a local level:

- Foster
- Adopt
- Offer respite
- Become a CASA
- Mentor
- Donate

Together, we can make a difference.

On average, two-thirds of siblings in foster care are split between homes, creating more instability in an already traumatic situation.

Accepting sibling groups helps children through challenging times of adjustment and instability by offering the security of sibling relationships.

Love isn't based on a feeling---it's a choice.

In our nation, we currently have thousands of children in the foster care system. Your choice to love could change everything in the life of a child.

Whether it's becoming a foster parent, offering respite care, becoming a CASA volunteer, or donating to organizations partnering with local foster care communities, we all have a role to play.

Love protects the vulnerable.
Love doesn't quit.

On average, one out of every 20 children will spend time in foster care before turning 18.

These children are your neighbors, your children's classmates, the child at the grocery store. Foster care is part of our communities, and it's time to take action.

When it comes to foster care, we recognize the need for safety, guidance, and love for children, but we often neglect the same needs for biological parents.

The overarching aim of foster care is family reunification (when safe to do so). The purpose of foster care is ultimately redemption and restoration of what has been broken.

Jesus loves and values children, but Jesus also loves and values broken people. Jesus loves you and me.

And if we want to be like Christ, that means working for the good of innocent children and the healing of their parents.

This doesn't always work out, and sometimes reunification isn't possible. Yet, we trust that God works for the good of those He loves---including, and especially, children.

May we be His hands and feet.

Stories provide us insight and understanding alongside our children. Adding books to our shelves about topics like foster care and adoption can be blessings to children walking through similar situations, but they can also cultivate empathy among all children ❤️
