Sometimes the most profoundly persuasive naturalists are artists and poets and musicians. They often elucidate surprising connections between we humans and the other living things that inhabit the earth with us. With paint and words and music, they often make the sublime beauty of nature more relatable to us. Wendell Berry was one of those artists . He passed away yesterday after a long life of 92 years that was filled with many words about people and our shared journeys and our encounters with nature.
